About the position:

Volterra is looking for a senior software engineer with deep knowledge of networking protocols and high scale distributed systems to contribute to the control plane software of Volterra Platform.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and development of control plane software of Volterra platform. This includes but is not limited to BGP software


• Understand PLM requirements, specifically related to BGP control plane and propose solutions


• Understand the scalability dimension of a large-scale distributed platform like Volterra and develop software accordingly


• Follow software development lifecycle for feature development i.e design, develop, test and support


• Work with geographically distributed teams

Required Skills/Experience:

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 8+ years of network software development experience


• Deep expertise and experience in network routing protocols including but not limited to BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS. Knowledge of VPN technologies like L2/L3 VPN


• Good understanding and experience in L2 to L7 networking protocols including but not limited to Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLAN


• Ability to implement all phases of a development cycle for a software product from understanding requirements, going through design, development and deploy phases


• Experience in designing and implementing solutions for complex large-scale problems


• Extensive hands-on experience in multiple computer programming languages such as C, C++, Golang, Python


• Working knowledge of Virtualization technologies such as KVM, Docker etc.


• Working knowledge of Cloud orchestration systems such as Openstack, Kubernetes etc.


• The candidate should be self-motivated and willing to delve into new areas and take new challenges in a proactive manner.


• The candidate is expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
