We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst with Caliber Public Safety’s 24/7 mission-critical public safety software suite Product Management team.
As a Business Analyst you are a problem solver with an innate ability to understand customer needs, possess strong analytical skills to gather and document business requirements, and act as a liaison between Sales, Professional Services, R&D, Customer Support and other project stakeholders. You will have a key role in defining work items for the development execution team and making sure all facets of the business understand the “what”, “how”, and “why”. This position will report to directly to the Incident Response Product Manager.
What your impact will be:
Product expert by way of researching, testing, and familiarizing self with new products and/or systems. Prepare and implement detailed, organized, and user-friendly written procedures for product and/or system end users.
Elicit, analyze, validate, and document business, organizational and/or operational requirements/stories and wireframes/flowcharts based on customer, market, and business needs.
Observe various business processes and identify and recommend opportunities for improvement. Supports procurement of new products or systems by conducting extensive product research and preparing detailed written reports to management.
Work with Customers to refine solution specifications and write tactical user stories and feature specifications.
Act as a liaison between Sales, Professional Services, R&D, Customer Support, and other project stakeholders to create, manage, and disseminate product related communications and knowledge transfer.
Work with external system providers to review and discuss interfaces and how best to implement with Caliber Public Safety Products.
Become immersed in the end-user experience and advocate on behalf of the customer to the development team.
Day-to-day collaboration with Developers and QA Testers to clarify functional specifications for approved features and to make sure the right customer problem is being solved.
Facilitate discussion around business and technical impacts of, and dependencies related to, priority decisions.
Coordinate with user groups, advisory boards, and Sales organization on product suggestions.
Review product documentation for completeness and correctness.
Participate in the review and response to RFI’s and RFP’s.
What we are looking for:
5+ years of public safety software experience, including but not limited to 1+ year writing user stories and/or documenting client specifications.
Solid understanding of product functions.
Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
Strong ability to balance competing needs and priorities, and to stay focused on the priorities of the overall business.
Understands Agile SCRUM development process, including design, programming, and documentation.
Strong technical skills on various technology platforms with respect to workflow and usage models (desktop clients, web, tablet).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills involving communicating technical and non-technical information in writing and verbally.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with Confluence and Jira desirable.
Eagerness to learn and grow and desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Ability to mentor more junior associates.
Familiarity with MS Office Applications and MS Project.
What will make you stand out:
Understanding of public safety market and/or public safety workflows
Prior experience in a customer-facing role.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar engineering discipline.
Prior knowledge of or experience in a public safety related field.
