Position Description:
Position Summary
The Employment Specialist prepares current students and upcoming graduates for success in finding local and graduate employment to ensure high local employment rates as well as high graduate employment rates. A major focus for the Employment Specialist includes building a strong rapport and maintaining contact with students through various touch points and coaching sessions both during a student’s training and post-graduation. In addition, the position is responsible for obtaining accurate employment information from graduates and employers to verify outcomes.
The ideal candidate for this role is friendly and genuinely interested in the needs of others and is responsive to those needs. Detail-orientation is key for success as an Employment Specialist, as correct handling of details is essential to maintain and grow crucial relationships inside and outside of the business. The ability to work at a faster-than-average pace, coupled with the capacity to motivate others is critical to success in this role.

Principle Accountabilities & Deliverables
• Ensures active and graduate students gain employment by preparing and coaching students for interviewing, resume creation, and follow up with employers
• Ensures high employment rates for our active students and graduates by continually following up with unemployed students/graduates through a variety of different touch points including one-on-one meetings, classroom surveys, classroom presentations, phone calls, text message and/or social media contacts
• Supports local and graduate employment outcomes by developing and maintaining relationships and communications with various employers and solicits job opportunities for current students while maintaining updated job postings for current openings with employers
• Matches available employment opportunities to student’s abilities and preferred geographical areas by working with our centralized Employer Development Group
• Conducts informational presentations to active students and employers on a variety of topics in various settings (including one-on-one meetings, classroom presentations, and other small and large group presentations)
• Hosts employers on campus for interviews, presentations, career fairs, and other various employer activities
• Ensures ACCSC standards as well as state guidelines, where applicable, are met by accurately collecting and recording students’ and graduates’ employment records
• Follows up with graduates and employers, as needed, to ensure verification information is submitted timely
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Education/Experience
• High School diploma or GED required, with some college courses preferred
• 1-2 years customer service experience required
• High volume phone or sales experience preferred
• Solid understanding of metrics driven environments with a proven record of meeting or exceeding defined metrics

Skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and multi-tasking are essential
• Ability to give effective presentations to large groups
• Proficient in computer software applications including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook

Abilities
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds 5% or less of the workday
• Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday
• Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn and reason for all of the workday
• Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday
• Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods throughout the workday
• May require up to 15% travel.

Work Environment
• Work is performed indoors in a climate controlled environment
