As an NPD Program Manager, you will be accountable for applying the appropriate project management knowledge, skill, tools and techniques, and using the Kohler NPD process to manage scope, time, cost, and global resources to successfully bring projects to completion. This position will lead and have ownership of all aspects of a project, such as clarifying specifications, establishing schedules, securing resources, and driving accountability to meaningful project execution. The NPD Program Manager will administer and track overall program health, report out on key metrics, and will be responsible to implement ongoing continuous improvements.

  • Analyze and establish the scope of the project by forming a team of experts required to effectively execute the project. Assign specific roles and deliverables to all team members and establish the time for completion of the project. Assign team responsibilities using action plans to manage the project.
  • Manage cross-functional teams through a defined and gated NPD process to include project timelines and maintaining it through the life of the project. Ensure high quality products are developed, built and shipped on time as defined by the commitments documented in the New Product Schedule.
  • Autonomously manage the development process and communicate to senior management on a variety of processes and technical issues within each program. Has respected knowledge of major system components. Anticipates and manages tasks/risks within each project.
  • Defines decision-making process for project teams. Coaches project team personnel to develop and implement cross-functional solutions to complex issues.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously (i.e. Program) and communicate progress to executive management.
  • Provide performance expectations and evaluation for cross-functional resources on project teams. This input will be provided to the appropriate supervisor and will have equal weight with that of functional performance expectations and evaluations.
  • Develop and manage the project budget with the team including development expense capital tooling and expense tooling. Guide the team to develop new products that meet cost targets.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a product development related discipline (e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, or Design); MBA preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in project or program management. Results must demonstrate an ability to build teams, make sound decisions and drive action across geographical boundaries & cross functionally.
