Associate Editor/Editor Applied Physics 

Acquires, and publishes high quality book content of in the areas of Applied Physics, focusing on North America. Associate Editor / Editor builds and manages a book portfolio as part of the strategically defined overall portfolio of Springer Nature. The position is offered on a full time basis.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a network of scientific authors with a focus on North America


• Acquire and manage competitive and profitable book content by assessing and developing publishing proposals for new products, editions and book series


• Negotiate contract terms with authors


• Meet goals set by editorial management such as contracts signed and manuscripts handed over to production


• Initiate and/or approve representative product title lists for display purposes


• Business travel (domestic/international) as required


• Keep abreast of latest developments in physical sciences with focusing on emerging topics as well as interdisciplinary research


• Candidates with substantial editorial experience will be considered for Editor

Experiences, skills and qualifications

• Excellent English language skills


• Educated to a master’s or PhD in Physics or related Sciences or demonstrable experience within STM publishing


• Excellent business communication skills including presentation skills


• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills


• Good analytical skills


• Standard knowledge of basic office software tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Expertise in Social Media management is a plus
