Job Description:

The person in this position will serve as the product level data authority and coordinate all data related activities on the product team. This person will approve Data Review Board (DRB) requests.

Responsibilities:


  • Facilitate use case and requirements definition, design, testing, and implementation of new data delivery and analytic capabilities that address specific business needs.
  • Enable the management of data as a corporate asset: define data (metadata), identify systems of record and authoritative sources, create data quality rules, define security requirements, create data flow diagrams, and administer firm-wide principles, standards, and controls.
  • Create conceptual and logical models to describe a particular domain of data and use these models to inform the physical design of data-related projects. Consult enterprise and industry models.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for a data domain that describe a sequence of projects to improve management and utility of the data for the business.
  • Identify areas for efficiency across data domains, such as the elimination of duplicate data or platforms.
  • Profile, wrangle, and prepare data from diverse sources to support analytical efforts. Write data transformation logic in languages such as Python, SAS, or Scala.
  • Conduct business process analysis and identify data needed to support the processes. Determine whether the firm's data is fit for use within a given process.
  • Build a cohesive team through strong communication, team involvement, and strong leadership
  • Conduct research and development with emerging technologies, determine their applicability to business use cases, document and communicate their recommended use in the firm.
  • Proactively looks for ways to improve processes and procedures.
  • Identifies process improvements and efficiency enhancements. Prioritizes and manages in a way that uses resources effectively
  • Sponsors and develops preventative processes to strengthen the control framework and monitor for potential process failures or weaknesses
  • Makes sound decisions in the best interest of the firm according to risk management practices and policies

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • 6+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Excellent command of the SQL language
  • Proficient in Python, SAS, or Scala
  • Broad expertise in data technologies; i.e., data warehousing, ETL, data quality concepts, Business Intelligence tools and analytical tools, unstructured data, machine learning, etc.
  • Technical understanding of common relational database systems; i.e., Teradata and Oracle
  • Understanding of Hadoop-related technologies & their applications
  • Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on experience with various data modeling techniques and tools
  • Able to manage influence upward and downward within function/department
  • Strong problem-solving leader, who can coach and facilitate others to solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to produces clear and succinct written and verbal communications and how to think through and frame messages for different audiences
  • Comfort with ambiguity and proven ability to structure problems and develop analytical frameworks
  • Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to influence across various job functions.
  • Demonstrate superior judgment to mitigate risk, and fosters an environment where risk/control issues are escalated, and trends are anticipated and identified
  • Demonstrates full appreciation of and compliance with regulatory obligations
  • Communicate effectively with Senior leaders to enable collaboration, decision-making, and transparency
  • Highly self-motivated, able to manage and deliver in an innovative and fast-paced environment
