Overview

Two Six Labs is seeking a Lead Research Engineer - Mobile and Embedded Systems to research and develop a next-generation distributed, networking and private messaging architectures. We are seeking candidates with an interest in research as well as a commitment to developing solutions for the real world.

Responsibilities


  • Join a small supportive team that values cooperation and creative spirit

  • Design and develop methods to enhance and preserve the privacy of smartphone users

  • Construct flexible networking solutions that adapt to mission parameters and system usage

  • Collaborate with partners and customers to understand, tailor, and deliver software that meets their requirements

  • Develop the ability to identify and remedy privacy and security risks of various apps, systems, and architectures

Qualifications


  • A bachelor's or advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related scientific domain

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • 7+ years of professional experience as a researcher, engineer, or scientist

  • A foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming and software/systems engineering

  • Proficiency in C++

  • Practical domain knowledge and experience with network protocols and architectures

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Self-driven work ethic

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance


Nice to haves

  • Experience configuring, building, and deploying complex containerized environments (Docker/Containerd/Kubernetes)

  • Familiar with the details of the lifecycle service orchestration

  • Experience developing/creating overlay networks and/or software defined networking

  • Experience developing secure solutions and products, including practical knowledge of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography and its uses

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining an SDK utilized by 3rd party developers

  • Familiarity with standard software engineering processes and tools (e.g., git and JIRA)
