Responsibilities

The Merchant Sales Officer solicits, negotiates, sells services, installs and trains merchant customers on card processing services and prospects, promoting the Bank. Skilled in Merchant Card services various industry software, materials and equipment. The Merchant Sales Officer is primarily responsible for Business Development of Merchant Services of external prospects, without an internal referral arrangement, and actively prospecting targeted business customers via self-sourced initiatives as well as joint calling efforts. Additionally, the Merchant Sales Officer will sign an average of 5 new accounts per month, 15 per quarter, while ensuring an acceptable profit margin; consult with clients to identify payment-processing needs, and deliver a comprehensive solution to address needs; negotiate services, pricing services with prospects/customers and provide superior service to all; keep abreast of industry news, products and services. Abide by and upholds all BSA related guidelines and requirements. Duties include traveling, troubleshooting, personal interaction with customers, and corresponding industry vendors, signing up new prospects to make the department profitable.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills Requirements :

• Associate's degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or other related business field and three (3) years to five (5) within the credit card industry (credit, collections, marketing or merchant sales); or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Principles of Bankcards, Industry Training on Terminals, and Visa/MasterCard training on products and services preferred.


• Prior sales experience in Merchant Services or financial services highly preferred.


• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving production metrics.


• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.


• Computer knowledgeable in MS Office Software, (Excel, Word, and Outlook, Power Point).
