Under the direction and collaboration of the RN, MD or other provider, deliver nursing care to our employees, support and work collaboratively with the medical providers, and other members of a multidisciplinary team in promoting safety and well-being of our employees.

Major deliverables:


  • Perform patient scheduling and coordinates daily operations of onsite medical facility.

  • Perform general nursing procedures including but not limited to measuring and recording vital signs, obtaining and recording medical history, medication administration, collecting specimens, assisting with examinations and assisting physician with procedures specific to department.

  • Render patient care including but not limited to referral to appropriate Emergency Department, patient education, arrangement of patient follow-up, infection control and bio-waste management. Observe Worldwide Health Protocols for patient care in the Alcoa Medical Department, as appropriate for skill level.

  • Participate in medical surveillance per the Worldwide Health Protocol

  • Maintain and handles all filing and organizational systems for the onsite medical facility. Documentation of medical records, maintenance of the Occupational Health Medicine (OHM) medical program and prepare accident reports.

  • Perform elements of physical examinations including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, electrocardiogram (EKG), vision, screening, audio testing, spirometry testing, venipuncture, and document as required.

  • Inventory and maintain supplies.

  • Develop, implement and promote health education and wellness programs to prevent injure and illness

  • Facilitate communication and professional cooperation between the Alcoa workers/patients, Alcoa community and professional resources.

  • Collaborate with other Alcoa Safety and Health personnel to resolve ways to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Incumbent reports to the Medical Supervisor and receives direction from the Physician

BACKGROUND SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Current to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State required. 3-5 years in Industrial Medicine, or urgent care/ER/ICU preferred. Certification in Audiometry and Spirometry and CPR must be attained. Outstanding interpersonal skills and proficiency with computers is critical. Incumbent must possess the ability to carry out all duties in a professional and confidential manner. Familiarity with Medical Department Policies and procedures is required.
