Human Resources - Workforce Analytics - Data Scientist

Human Resources plays an integral role in designing, implementing, and managing global initiatives across the firm. The functional areas within HR include global Recruiting, Training, Talent and Development, Diversity, Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, Technology, Finance, HR Service Delivery, and the Chief Data & Analytics Office.

Workforce Analytics (WFA) is the firm's centralized global HR analytics function, positioned within the HR Chief Data & Analytics Office. WFA applies quantitative methods, technology, and research to people data and people decisions across the firm.

Position Overview & Responsibilities:

This position will focus largely on building tools and applications that apply predictive modeling and natural language processing to large amounts of structured and unstructured data from a variety of internal and external sources. This individual will join a mature but growing data science team that leads some of the most critical projects in HR.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with a broad knowledge of the main data science techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning and NLP, and hands-on experience building ML models and applications. They will possess strong communications skills, including stakeholder management, and be able to describe complex technical topics to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.

Beyond strong programming and modeling skills, the ideal candidate will be innovative, self-motivated, and inclined to create genuine business value through the alignment of technology, data, and business interests.

Key Responsibilities


  • Partner with HR, business leaders, and teams from across JPMC to gather, manipulate, and explore large datasets, test hypotheses and extract useful insights
  • Develop innovative models, tools and applications that apply machine learning and NLP algorithms at scale
  • Partner with other data scientists, data engineers and software developers, on the team and from across JPMC, to deploy ML and NLP models as integrated data products

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or other quantitative field
  • Hands-on experience working with data, analyzing and manipulating data sets, and building ML models and applications in a data science, analytics or research role (or similar position)
  • Fluency in Python, including the main data analytics and ML packages (numpy, pandas, sklearn, etc.)
  • Familiarity with NLP, network analytics and/or agent-based modeling is preferred
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases (experience with Hadoop and pySpark is a plus)
  • Familiarity with data visualization in Python (or other language) and/or Tableau
  • Ability to drive data science projects independently from inception to delivery
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and able to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Able to work collaboratively and with a team-oriented attitude
  • Interested in learning new data science and technology-related skills and keeping updated with new developments in the field
