Position Program Director, Marriage and Family Therapy (Lipscomb University Austin Center)
Primary Responsibility

The MFT Program Director is the assigned leader of the MFT masters program with authoritative decision-making responsibility over the academic and clinical aspects of the program as well as financial aspects of the program. The MFT Program Director will launch the new MFT program in Austin, Texas.

Education

Earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy (from COAMFTE accredited program preferred) or closely related field

Experience

The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in higher education and/or directing a Marriage and Family Therapy Master's program and knowledge of current COAMFTE accreditation standards.


The ideal candidate will also have experience in or knowledge of running a mental health clinic.


Qualifications

Licensed as LMFT or license eligible in Texas (must become fully licensed).


AAMFT Approved Supervisor or supervisor candidate (must become AAMFT Approved Supervisor).


Clinical Fellow or Pre-Clinical Fellow of AAMFT (must become AAMFT Clinical Fellow)

Typical Duties and Responsibilities








Description of Tasks Performed

The Program Director is a member of the core MFT faculty and fills four broad roles:


Administration and Leadership

Teaching, Supervision, & Advising

Research

Service


Administrative and Leadership Duties:

-Lead faculty team to develop and continuously improve MFT program

-Lead faculty and staff through accreditation process

-Budget and spend for program efficiently

-Plan and / or delegate planning of events such as orientation, the Last Supper, & Christmas Party etc.

-Arrange for learning and clinical space

-Interview prospective students

-Attend to student issues

-Report on program outcomes to Communities of Interest

-Hire academic and supervisory faculty and staff as needed, with oversight from university administration

-Evaluate faculty and staff

-Facilitate annual faculty retreat


Teaching, Supervision & Advising:

-Teach 16 units per year in the MFT masters program (4 graduate courses)

-Supervision of MFT interns (as part of teaching load).

-Lead faculty concerning ongoing curriculum improvements


Research

-Maintain a program of research or sufficient scholarly activities

-Present research and / or practice based information at conferences, lectureships, and /or other outlets.


Practice and Service:

-Maintain appropriate licensure and credentials.

-Continue to do clinical work, supervision and / or consultation

-Serve the program, department, college, and / or university, and / or;

-Serve the profession locally, statewide, regionally or nationally, and / or;

-Serve the community locally, statewide, regionally or nationally
