Job Description:

The primary goal of this position is to lead operational teams in the Mass Tort business towards the overall vision and strategy including ensuring the effective planning and execution of revenue, tech, process improvement and client service solutions to meet the needs of the business and internal clients.

Essential job responsibilities will include:


  • Participate in the planning and execution of strategic initiatives


  • Organize and manage all of the claims processing operational functions in support of client projects, including capacity analyses and production planning


  • Participation in continual process improvement plans


  • Ongoing staff development


  • Revenue forecasting and tracking, including monitoring invoicing and cash collections


  • Support for sales activities, as needed


  • Guiding the operational teams in determining the overall vision and direction of their respective departments through internal feedback loops from other departments


  • Analyzing client feedback and other available data to make recommendations for improvement


  • Development of new programs, product features, service lines, communication standards, escalation procedures, or operational standards


  • Participate in client meetings and calls as needed to strategize around client needs and long-term relationship success


  • Partner closely with product owners to drive tech enhancements to support the business


  • Oversight of senior managers driving their effective team leadership with accountability and clear expectations


  • A critical component of the job is to manage and resolve conflict between departments and assist in client communications.


Towards this goal, the Director of Operations will work with all operational departments to continually enhance service quality standards to meet and/or exceed client expectations.  This position is responsible for fostering a team environment and building cooperation between operations, intercompany team members, Epiq company team members, and sales to provide the highest quality service standards, reach revenue targets and obtain efficiency/profit goals.

The Director of Operations is directly or indirectly responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating department staff, and establishing programs to ensure that department staff members are well trained and supported.  Succession planning and building a strong talent pool is required.

Qualifications & Characteristics

We are seeking a superior candidate for this unique role.  As a result, we strongly prefer the following:


  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; an advanced degree preferred.


  • Significant operational and performance management experience.


  • Minimum of 10 years of prior operations and P&L experience managing a team for a service industry.

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to efficiently gather and process information in a fast paced environment are required for problem solving and resolution in response to project inquires, deadline and budget management, and operational issues that impact project timelines, budget or quality requirements.
