About the Position

VHB's in-house team of Creative Design Specialist (Graphic Designers) think critically and strategically to create clear, compelling visual communications. We work on a wide variety of projects that enhance our communities and the world around us. We geek out over typography, grids, infographics, visualizations, color, and paragraph styles while ensuring our brand's consistency on every VHB project. We work closely and collaboratively with our marketing team to create top-notch proposals, presentations, advertisements, tradeshows, and digital communications. We also work closely with project managers and business leaders, demonstrating how design can add value to projects and help expand upon ideas.

Responsibilities


  • Support and develop graphic design and preparation efforts through all phases of development and final production of materials, which may include proposals, presentations, internal design, and external visibility projects.

  • Proactively work with marketing, communications, and design staff to help prioritize projects and incoming workload

  • May present at and participate in kick-off meetings, check-ins, and final review meetings with technical staff with supervision from design or marketing staff

  • Learn to apply messaging to pursuit work and communications

  • Execute and collaborate on design assignments based on existing creative concepts, design briefs, and vision

  • Learn, use, and adhere to VHB marketing and client deliverable templates, and builds best practices with team

  • Provide support on conferences, webinars, and other regional industry events and experiences

  • Create, organize, and help maintain content for future reuse

  • Hands-on learning opportunities for design solutions that may include multiple channels and products, including digital communications, social media, email, print, animation, video, and web design to be created consistent with existing styles

  • Learn and adhere to VHB Imagery Use policy

  • Participate in team meetings and training with marketing, communications, and design peers

  • Active learner in all related software

  • Lead design sessions with coaching from marketing, communications, and design peers

  • Active learner and participant in verifying that marketing deliverables and touchpoints comply with and are consistent with VHB corporate branding standards, formats, and template styles.

  • Assist in materials and document production while implementing QA/QC standards

  • Desire to learn about VHB's mission, markets, services, regional leadership, and organizational goals

Qualifications


  • 2-4 years of graphic design experience, preferably in A/E/C environment.

  • BFA in Graphic Design, or similar.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite programs, including Word, PowerPoint, InDesign, and Photoshop

  • Skills in photography, video, animation, and social media preferred but not required

  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Willing to take on design and technical challenges

  • Involvement in industry affiliations, preferred (ie. AIGA)
