Position Summary:
The Sr Manager, Software Development - Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity will lead a team of Engineers responsible for Bluetooth LE Wireless Connectivity in our Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead a team in the development and testing of Bluetooth LE communication software for reliable Smartphone-connected CGM system

  • "Go to" Bluetooth resource in R&D with a deep knowledge of all aspects of Bluetooth LE connectivity in our wearable products

  • Lead product development solutions and advanced technologies regarding high reliability Bluetooth LE connectivity

  • Ensure continuous improvement of previously released commercial products and supporting field issues

  • Hire, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function

  • Collaborating with internal R&D and customer service groups, along with our Quality, Operations, Regualtory and Clinical organizations

  • Ensure product design is compliant with Bluetooth regulatory and SIG requirements.

  • Create strategy around Bluetooth technology

  • Within a team, execute projects for on-time delivery of project goals and objectives.

  • Contribute to and review technical solutions for product improvements

  • Identify and implement engineering and quality process improvements

  • Contribute to driving Dexcom's improved gross margin with design improvements

  • Communicate with crossfunctional team for Requirements definition and Technical Reviews

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 13+ years of industry experience.

  • 5-8 years of previous people management experience.

  • Results-oriented, self-disciplined, fast-paced, motivated individual that requires minimal supervision

  • Strong engineering management background in Smartphone Bluetooth hardware and software systems

  • Expertise with Bluetooth SIG's communication standards, architecture and usage models; Bluetooth LE physical layer; and protocol stack (GAP, GATT, HCI, ATT, L2CAP).

  • Developing solutions with Bluetooth LE chipsets and have extensive hands on experience with embedded system and software design for peripherals and handsets

  • Extensive knowledge in Smartphone hardware, including combination Bluetooth ICs and software for wireless communications

  • Deep expertise in Bluetooth LE and wirless security with a proven track record of implementing best practices

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity - ready and able to effectively and efficiently change plans quickly to meet the changing needs of the business and projects

  • Highly collaborative and desire to reach across the organization to understand needs and how to meet those needs.

  • Proven ability solving complex problems, with the ability to get to true problem that needs to be solved and foresee problems and proactively mitigate before they happen

  • Track record of recruiting exceptional talent, building high performing teams to include managing, mentoring and motivating employees

  • Strong Communication (oral/written) to included strong presentation skills, including ability to communicate in small and large settings and at all levels in the organization, including senior level management

  • Demonstrated ability to process complex information and summarize it concisely in writing and/or verbally in a professional manner

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prior experience with product development for medical devices

  • Prior experience with low power body-worn battery powered system.

Functional Description: Management

Directs the activities of a software applications development function for software application enhancements and new products. This position oversees the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of computer programs for commercial or end user applications. Analyzes and investigates applications engineering tasks and prepares design specifications, analysis, and recommendations. Interacts with project managers, marketing, sales, and users to define application requirements and/or necessary modifications.

  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short‐term goals of the organization.

Management:


  • Manages activities of two or more sections or departments.

  • Directly manages the coordination of the activities within a function/department with responsibility for results.

  • In some instances may be responsible for a functional area or contracted / outsourced employees or matrixed reports and not have any direct reports within the organization.

  • People management responsibilities include hiring / terminations, performance reviews, career development coaching and compensation decisions.
