The Segal Group, a leading HR and Benefits consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Counsel to join our New York City based in-house Legal team. Are you passionate about delivering trusted advice that improves lives? Then this career developmental role may be for you.


  • Analyze and provide strategic practical advice and counsel with respect to business, compliance and legal risks affecting Segal’s business as a professional services firm


  • Evaluate and advise colleagues with respect to application of laws and regulatory guidance including coordinating and synthesizing advice from outside counsel as needed


  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure compliance with privacy and data-related obligations


  • Draft new policies and procedures as applicable

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and professional standards of care

  • Provide support to respond to Department of Labor, Security and Exchange Commission and other regulatory matters

  • Coordinate with and manage outside counsel​​​​​​​

  • Bring industry best practices to Segal



  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and admittance to a State Bar




  • 10+ years of relevant experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department




  • Demonstrated expertise in general corporate law and governance




  • Knowledge of employee benefit laws, employment laws and data privacy laws




  • Experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex agreements, client agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and vendor agreements
