Provides physical therapy evaluation, treatment, and consultation independently to typical patients within a program under the prescription of a physician and within the guidelines designated by department and Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Demonstrates at least 75% of Level I PT clinical competencies in direct patient care within probationary period. Expands knowledge of less common populations seen within the program through mentorship, educational opportunities, etc.

Essential Functions:

Direct Patient Care Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
2. Evaluates patients for physical therapy treatment including positioning, mobility, adaptive equipment, home programs, home accessibility, etc.
3. Independently provides and coordinates age appropriate physical therapy treatment plans, treatment and consultation in typical patient care situations.
4. Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, JCAHO, and CARF standards.
5. Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
6. Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend equipment, home or school modifications, transition of care, etc.
7. Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with the insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
8. May begin to investigate specialty areas within the physical therapy discipline.

Indirect Patient Care Responsibilities
1. Assesses existing and develops new activities that promote general knowledge and professionalism within the department; participates in peer review process. Attends inservices/continuing education, provides updates in the form of inservices to the department.
2. Participates in program, discipline, specialty, and hospital/satellite CQI projects.
3. Contributes to discipline and program committees to enhance patient care; assists in assessing current procedures and assists in developing methods of improvement related to patient care.
4. Participates in activities to increase program use, awareness, and marketability in meeting goals of the department. Attends monthly program meetings.
5. Assists in mentoring affiliating physical therapy students, new physical therapy staff, support personnel, and volunteers. Adequately and appropriately provides PTA supervision. Assists with department wide student teaching; participates in student and volunteer program organization.
6. Participates in single discipline, multi-disciplinary, and specialty teams. Assists in maintenance of department space and equipment.
7. Contributes to the growth and development of specialty areas within the physical therapy discipline. Develops ties with professional organizations. Provides educational inservices and experiences to the discipline/department and outside community. Attends department physical therapy meetings as scheduled. May participate in promotional activities for physical therapy and/or Nemours.
8. Completes department and Delaware Valley annual mandatory inservice training. Maintains CPR requirements.
9. Must have the ability to work well with others.
10. Regular attendance is required.
11. Good communications skills are required, both written and verbal.

Work Hours:  This is a 30 hour/week position within Deptford, NJ location.

QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. or higher level degree in Physical Therapy required


• Delaware and New Jersey State PT License (permanent or temporary) to practice Physical Therapy (Either DE or NJ license required to start employment) 


• CPR certification (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) within 6 months of date of hire. 


• Member of professional specialty organizations (APTA, State PT Assoc.) preferred. 


• 2+ years of experience in pediatrics, orthopedics, sports medicine and/or pelvic floor preferred.
