Based at our Sidney, OH or St. Louis, MO location, we have an exciting opportunity for you to influence the next generation of variable speed motor drives. You will utilize the knowledge and skills of embedded power electronics software design, development and application of variable speed motor drives in a global new product development group.

 AS A POWER ELECTRONICS SOFTWARE ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Design, develop, implement and test embedded software and control algorithms for variable speed motor drives
  • Assist in developing product specifications, architecture, schedules, design documents, DFMEA and safety agency certification
  • Assist in developing and documenting test procedures and standards for engineering as needed
  • Assist in performance and qualification testing of variable speed motor drives
  • Obtain, review and interpret agency standards to ensure product compliance and coordinate software releases to certification labs to obtain product and agency safety approval
  • Assist and coordinate full time and contract software engineering resources to meet project development schedules and objectives.
  • Assist in engineering change and release of the embedded controls software for variable speed drives.

Schedule
We offer the flexibility of a core hour work schedule. Employees can flex their start and stop times given they are working during the core hours of 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Our teams work together to ensure their chosen work schedules are supporting our customers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field with three (3) plus years of engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in embedded motor control software design and development
  • Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge of power electronics hardware and embedded software design including micro-controllers, digital and analog circuits on several platforms
  • Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge of field-oriented control of motors, sensor-less motor control and advanced algorithm development
  • In depth knowledge of multiple power electronics inverter and converter topologies, architectures and control
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in working with multiple functional groups in a new product development environment

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Master’s Degree in related field plus motor control software development experience
  • Seven (7) plus years of power electronics design experience within an industrial company with an emphasis on motor control software design and development
  • Strong technical project management and problem solving skills
  • Experience working with Matlab/Simulink, hardware in the loop simulation, schematic capture and simulation tools
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating highly effective working relationships with all levels of personnel
