Under limited supervision, delivers tier II/III desk-side and server-side IT support through completing service desk tickets, which includes PC break/fix, application installation, general OS and application software support, hardware peripheral installation and support, network connectivity support, PC provisioning, PC upgrades, and account management.  In addition, configures and supports conference room spaces, conferencing and shared equipment, and conferencing services.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Desktop Administration: Provides system administration of distributed computer systems, including the setup, support, maintenance and improvement of operating systems, hardware, and software on laptops, desktops, mobile devices and tablets.

  • Reviews incoming user issues and resolves.
  • Works independently on work assignments through ticketing system.
  • Makes independent decisions to correct user issues based on past experiences, system procedures and optimal environmental variables as needed to meet business objectives.
  • Provides account administration for distributed computer systems including but not limited to new accounts, passwords, granting/revoking permissions, disabling and terminating accounts or other account administration by following proper work procedures to attain a high level of accuracy and audit trail.
  • Identifies opportunities to remove inefficiencies from work processes and implements streamlined methods to resolve issues or automate software installations or other processes.
  • Provides technical support for Help Desk callers and resolves issues as requested.
  • Configures, installs, supports and maintains multiple systems in accordance with system procedures.
  • Documents system problems and works to resolve and prevent them. Reports progress in meeting SLAs.
  • Create and implement system administration and maintenance procedures.
  • Installs and maintains system and application software.
  • Defines processes to use system utilities to monitor and adjust system parameters to improve system performance and functionality. Uses these processes to resolve user issues.
  • Escalates issues to senior staff where needed to meet service level objectives.
  • Performs software and hardware asset management tracking using proper procedures.
  • Assists with appropriation requests and business justification for capital and expense purchases as required.
  • Interacts with Purchasing group to purchase needed hardware/software as required by business operations.

  1. Network and Project Administration: Assists with providing and supporting projects, project issues, archival and retrieval services, security administration and network communications issues.

  • Supports project work in partnership with Senior Desktop or Network administrators to work independently while balancing priorities coming from assigned helpdesk tickets.
  • Performs both first- and second-line support for network problem analysis and resolution.
  • Performs support of local area networking (LAN) and interconnection to the Emerson Wide Area Network.
  • Assists with operational support and issue resolution of existing voice and data network elements.

  1. General Administration: Assists with the coordination of activities with other departments, divisions and external vendors.

  • Assists in the coordination of intra-and inter-departmental system administration activities.
  • Can be called upon to provide on-call (night/weekend) assistance in support of Rosemount’s 24x7 business operations, on an as needed basis
  • Provides for notification and escalation to appropriate personnel of systemic operational problems

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Must have a minimum of 5 year of demonstrated work experience; Emerson Experience preferred
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage and prioritize concurrent tasks.
  • Demonstrates competence with the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Windows.
  • Can operate utilities and tools for troubleshooting and repairing Microsoft Windows.
  • Has intermediate networking skills.
  • Displays a basic understanding of P/A and A/V equipment
  • Demonstrable customer focus with good communication capabilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and with conflicting priorities
  • Demonstrably action orientated
  • Flexible attitude towards working hours
