Scripps Networks is looking for a S&P Network Delay Specialist that is responsible for the fulfillment of FCC obligations by operating the broadcast delay mechanism for live programming. Ensures that content meets the standards set by the company.

What you'll do:


  • Fulfill network’s FCC obligations by operating the broadcast delay mechanism for live programming. Ensure audio, visual and monitors are precise for LIVE shows


  • Evaluate and make decisions on unscripted programming packages and background material to ensure airing meets legal guidelines


  • Attend all CourtTV production meetings for awareness of live shows and spots


  • Monitor and troubleshoot CourtTV live feed before airing and escalate to management if extreme problems occur


  • Create shift report logs to catch errors that were aired and to ensure those errors meet standards to air in the future 


  • Communicate quickly and efficiently with directors and producers to help seamlessly manage the control room when audio/video dropouts are made


  • Assist on as needed basis with screening assigned S&P programming on a regular and/or rotating basis to monitor nudity/profanity are within guidelines


  • Works independently as well as in tandem with other delay specialists to make sound decisions with airing programming


  • Check and diagnose delay equipment daily for proper functioning prior to going on-air.  May report technical problems and equipment malfunctions if escalation is needed


What you bring:

Education & Experience/Certifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred


  • 3-5 year experience in broadcast standards and practices and/or a television production environment


Skills & Abilities


  • Attention to detail


  • Sound judgement during live trial broadcasts


  • Passion for television and the process associated with putting television on air


  • Excellent analytical, good judgement, and communication skills


  • A team player who can build an environment of collaboration and collegiality with colleagues and clients


  • Self-starter, detail oriented, critical thinker


Work Environment


  • Ability to work flexible hours or alternate schedules as needed, as assigned by management with little or no notice. Such alternate/additional work can include evenings and weekends


  • Available to arrive 30 minutes prior to shift


  • Ability to work 8 hours shifts, with no more than 2-3 hours of sitting at a time
