Job Description:

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented Vice President of Operations to join our team! The Vice President of Operations will manage all aspects of the Retail, Aftermarket, and Transportation Operations for Goodwill Industries of KY assigned state-wide territory with a mindset of striving for excellence at all levels.  This position is responsible for ensuring that Goodwill’s retail program integrates mission in all aspects of the work, while delivering sustained growth to the financial outcomes through a continuous improvement focus. Essential Duties and Tasks:



  • Has a commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and works with Human Resources to model this example to all leaders that are in line of report. Assures a workplace free of discrimination or harassment throughout areas supervised.  Takes prompt action, within agency policy, to address any such allegations or incidents.

  • Achieves sustained growth of sales with maximized profitability of the retail program through short- and long-range strategies that support the corporate strategic plan.  Includes:  identification and development of new market opportunities for donations and retail sales.  Maximize the effectiveness of retail support operations, to further the mission of Goodwill.

  • Drive a culture of exceptional customer service at all department touch points for both internal and external customers.  Ensure that standard operating procedures, policies, and training efforts reinforce the customer service focus.  Set a positive personal example in all customer interactions.

  • Works cooperatively with other agency staff to accomplish the mission, including        offering training and employment opportunities for program participants and selected populations.

  • Builds community relations with ongoing contacts in the business and professional community to enhance the public image and awareness of Goodwill’s mission.  Demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards possible in relationships with internal and external associates of Goodwill.

  • Creates a compelling place to work for all employees. Supports and drives field alignment with agency initiatives focused on providing a work environment that is safe, clean, and positively engaged.

  • Ensures that recruiting, professional development, and retention of all employees from associate to senior management are in place and effective at all levels of the department through training and Career Paths in collaboration with the Human Resource Department.

  • Establishes and implements operational policies, procedures and quality standards for all aspects of the retail program with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Ensures compliance with all agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout areas supervised, and maintains same to meet legal and regulatory standards, and Goodwill’s code of ethics.

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 yrs. of increasingly responsible management experience; including managing functions across multiple locations, managing budgets, and analysis of other relevant financial metrics.

  • Experience in retail systems and/or related experience within Goodwill is a plus.

  • Work environment is partly office-based, but frequent travel to a variety of locations is required.


  • Must be customer focused and results driven.
