Summary:

The Construction Inspector position provides an opportunity to work on exciting large-scale civil infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will provide daily construction inspection services. The primary purpose will to inspect and enforce the contract requirements for projects in municipal water and wastewater involving pipelines, collection systems, lift/pump stations, storage and equalization facilities, pipeline rehabilitation, stormwater drainage and treatment facilities.

Responsibilities:


  • Observe, inspect, and document underground utility construction as an Owner's Representative
  • Ensure compliance with design plans and specifications and permit requirements
  • Document contractor progress, maintain accurate quantity records, process payment requests, generate punch lists, and certify completion status
  • Document site activities accurately by maintaining accurate and current field books, construction reports, and as-built record drawings
  • Coordinate with city personnel, client, contractor, and project stakeholders during course of the projects
  • Coordinate with third party materials testing firms for concrete, soil, and weld testing
  • Advocate for site safety and coordinate with public for safety awareness
  • Monitor and track additional work, change order work, or force account work

Requirements:


  • BS Construction Management or related discipline is preferred
  • 8 years' experience inspecting civil infrastructure projects. Prefer pipeline inspection experience, but should consider those with other strong experience
  • Experience working in/for municipal agencies or utility infrastructure organizations
  • Experience in delivery of and/or supporting technical work (construction specifications, drawings, documentation) in a construction environment
  • Experience with simultaneously inspecting multiple projects
  • Ability to respond proactively in a high-paced environment and willingness to adjust and respond effectively to changes
  • Experience in asbestos cement removal and disposal
