Fleet Manager at ContainerPort Group, Inc.

Job Description:

CPG® specializes in transportation services including container and domestic trucking, container depot operations, rail, warehousing and logistics throughout the Midwest, Ohio Valley, Gulf and East coast of the United States.

A Fleet Manager is the direct link between our drivers and customers. A Fleet Manager must build trusting relationships with our drivers and fully support them in day to day operations. In addition, a Fleet Manager is responsible for keeping their fleet committed to shipments that safely maximize productivity and provide on-time service to the customers.

Responsibilities:


  • Supervises a fleet of contractors to ensure high delivery performance, fleet profitability and compliance

  • Assigns equipment as needed

  • Responsible for maximizing efficiency and profitability of every delivery

  • Oversees fair equitable distribution of loads amongst contractors

  • Plans and executes order of deliveries to create efficient load drop-offs and pick-ups

  • Ability to accept and decline loads and coordinates with the Customer Service team

  • Negotiates rates with contractors outside of the ICOA

  • Develops relationship with fleet of contractors to improve performance and encourage retention

  • Resolves customer/terminal/rail disputes involving contractors

  • Authority to take a contractor out of service for not meeting requirements

  • Authority to cancel a contractor’s contract for not meeting company requirements

  • Monitors contractor’s compliance and uses discretion to take appropriate action related to the following: DOT and compliance regulations, controlled substance suspicion, hours of service, vehicle compliance

  • Responsible for coordinating required training for fleet of contractors

  • Coordinate with other departments to discuss and resolve any outstanding fleet issues/questions

Qualifications:


  • 2-5 years of intermodal/container transportation experience

  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations

  • Experience working with fleet of contractors/owner operators

  • Computerized dispatch skills (experience using TMS)

  • Strong computer skills and experience using Outlook, Excel and Word

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, take initiative and achieve results
