Job Description:

Design Development Engineers will primarily focus on production work but will also balance participation in special projects and training initiatives. They are responsible for the development of documents and format assets using data merging software. They will leverage their knowledge of graphic design, data merging modalities, JavaScript, and HTML to be successful in this role. The person in this role is responsible for discussing client needs and requirements with stakeholders as well as acting as a department representative. Design Development Engineers will be working on various aspects of multiple projects simultaneously at the direction of our Workforce Team. In addition, they will be expected to build relationships intra- and interdepartmentally in a remote environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Regularly develop documents using Adobe design software; format assets to meet strict style guidelines.




• Create dynamic data merges and implement conditional logic using internal vendor programming languages.




• Discuss client needs and requirements with various internal stakeholders and provide expertise regarding development processes.




• Consult and respond to client requests with knowledge of our departmental processes and offerings.




• Participate in department special projects to improve internal process.




• Present technical material in an understandable manner to technical/non-technical audiences and decision-makers to aid them in their decisions.




• Appropriately escalate project roadblocks.




• Convert data to various 1D and 2D barcode types.

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of academic or practical work experience in InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat. 



• 
  

  1 to 3 years hands-on experience with the following:

  
  
  
  

  • Windows platform and Microsoft Office,

  
  

  • Typesetting and layout design practices,

  
  

  • Maintaining accuracy over multiple iterations,

  
  

  • Building relationships in a remote environment,

  
  

  • Acting as a department consultant in interdepartmental meetings,

  
  

  • Mail merges or integrating data with print,

  
  

  • Following regimented instructions while learning new software,

  
  

  • Using Data-mapping software, including, but not limited to, developing and executing implementations based on written requirements involving dynamic conditional logic, data masking, medium maps, and transactional information,

  
  

  • XML and its relationship to data-driven design setups,

  
  

  • Source data layout and troubleshooting associated output issues,

  
  

  • JavaScript,

  
  

  • HTML, and

  
  

  • Agile and waterfall project methodologies.

  
  
  
  

• Proven demonstrated ability to work under a deadline




• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; able to adjust for intended audience.

Desired Qualifications
Any hands-on experience with the following is not required but would be preferred:

• Designing for the web, both desktop and mobile, using tools such as Figma or Sketch,




• Project management software such as Jira,




• Technical or development-related experience with SQL queries, Python, JavaScript, CSV or XML data. #LI-DNI
