Job Description:

The Senior Business System Analyst (SR BSA) should be solution focused, have an expert understanding of the requirements for a particular case, or step of a case, and can determine how those functional requirements translate into technical specifications. The SR BSA translates functional requirements into a technical statement of work from which developers can code solutions. The SR BSA works directly with Client Services, SQL Developers, Claims Managers, other BSAs, and department Team Leads and is a subject matter expert in all aspects of the process, can provide, determine and document the data-oriented solutions.

 

Job Responsibilities 


  • Knowledge expert of the entire lifecycle of a class action case or similar matter, determine what data is required based on functional requirements, and define how that data and business rules will translate to internal applications and processes.


  • Develop and publish technical specifications, technical requirements, standard operating procedures and other documentation, to a high standard. 


  • Design advanced, complex, and intricate data mappings which will be used to drive ETL procedures. 


  • Using tools such as Excel, Access, SQL Server, and others, directly query, assess, and analyze data to ensure requirements are met and other functional challenges are addressed. 


  • Responsible for training, mentoring and been a point of contact for peers.


  • Serve as a point of contact between Client Services (business) and SQL Developers (technical) teams to keep production work flowing smoothly. 


  • Work with Client Services to ensure all required steps and actions are captured in project plans, and that project timelines seem reasonable. 


  • Conduct or consult in user acceptance test exercises to ensure results are acceptable and meet requirements. 


  • Follow prescribed software development standards, processes, procedures, methodologies, etc., according to departmental policies and conventions. 


  • Interact and correspond professionally with team members, project management, clients, and other stakeholders. 


  • Account for and accurately log time against project work. 


 

Qualifications  


  • Four-year college degree or equivalent business experience in the Class Action industry.


  • 5+ years experience as Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Process Specialist, or other role where business functional requirements are captured and decomposed. 


  • Highly proficient with MS Office tools, particularly Excel. 


  • High level experience with relational databases and ability to read and write moderately complex SQL. 


  • Understanding of data modeling and data organization. Ability to analyze data sets from external sources and map to an established relational data model. 


  • Understanding of and experience with extract, transform, load (ETL) concepts, tools, and practices. 


  • Ability to work in an environment with deadlines and shifting priorities. 


  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; able to adjust for intended audience. Fluent in English.
