Job Description:

Forward Air is seeking an experienced Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Learning & DevelopmentPartnertoorganizeand present trainingto fostergrowth and improvement. The qualified candidate willdevelop and implement a diversity and inclusion plan. Previous experienceof learning & development withinthe transportation industry is a plus. This position reports directly to the Director,People Engagement.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Develop and implement a diversity and inclusion plan that emphasizes alignment with key organization goals
  • Foster diversity of leadership in partnership with the Leaders of Recruitment, Community Relations, and Public Relations to develop a recruitment network to identify talent pools from among the community
  • Oversee the integration of business and vendor initiatives throughout the organization, including expanding supplier diversity and strengthening community business relationships
  • Represent the organization within the external community to advance inclusion and diversity initiatives
  • Review applicable policies, procedures and practices and make recommendations for change that support a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • In collaboration with the Director, Employee Engagement, sponsor the development of early career high-potential diverse talent and oversee the curriculum supporting inclusion and diversity education.
  • Stay abreast of changes in regulatory and market conditions that may affect the organizations inclusion programs and implement changes and/or adjustments to ensure compliance
  • Represent the organization within the external community to advance inclusion and diversity initiatives
  • Serve as an advisor/consultant to management on strategies, opportunities and initiatives that will advance inclusion, engagement and innovation that comes from the strength of employee differences
  • Identify metrics to evaluate progress toward the goal of creating a more diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Work with internal communication to develop and enforce organization communication strategies related to inclusion and diversity initiatives
  • Benchmark practices and maintain awareness of best practices, recommend adjustments to goals and plans as appropriate
  • Work with the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Employee Resource Groups to build programs for inclusion and engagement from concept to completion, develop critical organization support and buy-in; lead cross functional work teams in the implementation of initiatives
  • Work with senior leadership to support innovation in organization practices that will leverage employee diversity in the workforce to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in delivering safe, culturally sensitive, high-quality care
  • Review applicable policies, procedures and practices and make recommendations for change that support a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Strong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • BS/BA in business, education, computer science orequivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating a variety of topics for all levels of organization
  • Must possess demonstrated leadership ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the enterprise
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Have a Driver's License and credit card for travel purposes and expenses (Travel expenses are 100% reimbursed per company policy)

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment
