Construction Manager

We are seeking a Construction Manager to support Jviation, A Woolpert Company.


The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating various engineering construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that schedules and budgets are followed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK DUTIES


The following essential functions of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with your supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.



  • Collects data and gathers information or documents

  • Performs basic computations or analysis

  • Applies standard company techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment

  • Collaboratively uses judgement to determine adaptions in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments and problem solve in an effective and efficient manner

  • Well aware of requirements specified in the Contract Documents and following applicable duties pertained to applied category

  • Supervise Contractor's works to achieve construction activities in accordance with the Contract Documents

  • Reviews Contractor's submissions

  • Provides all necessary on-site direction and issue site instructions while supervising all site inspection staff

  • Monitors the quality of materials and workmanship included in the project

  • Observes site safety procedures

  • Prepares daily and weekly progress reports

  • Prepares weekly meeting agenda and compiles meeting minutes

  • Assists in the completion of an overall construction report

  • Reviews Certified Payrolls for compliance with Davis Bacon Wage Rates

  • Coordinates work with engineers, technicians, or administrative staff

  • Assists in determining schedule requirements

  • Ensures correctness and completeness of as-built drawings


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES


Other Duties/Responsibilities: Provides other services to support engineering teams.


Supervision: Supervises each contractor and subcontractor to ensure that work meets quality standards and adheres to specifications.


Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibility: Be responsible for the effective and efficient use of Jviation, A Woolpert Company provided materials.


Corporate Compliance Responsibility: As an essential function, this position is responsible for complying with all Jviation, A Woolpert Company, State and Federal rules and regulations pertaining to the accomplishment of specific engineering projects and to the corporate compliance requirements established by Jviation, A Woolpert Company.


Policy and Procedure Interpretation and Development: Supports and abides by departmental policies.


Responsibility for Confidentiality: The highest level of confidentiality is required. Ensures strict compliance with confidentiality protocols, policies and procedures put in place by Jviation, A Woolpert Company and by the client.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / EXPERIENCE

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering required. At least five years construction experience required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates support for the Jviation, A Woolpert Company's mission, vision and values. Must have strong organizational and analytic skills to collect, synthesize, and summarize disparate data. Must have proficiency with multiple reporting applications and tools, including MS Excel, Access, Word, and basic engineering software. Excellent analytical skills to extract, manipulate, and interpret data and review information critically to ensure it is accurate and reasonable within the context presented. Must have ability to track budgets. Must have excellent problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, creativity, flexibility, professionalism, and ability to work both independently and with other staff. Must have prior knowledge in understanding and interpreting engineering project details and able to communicate those details effectively in a construction environment to individuals outside the firm.


Licenses/Certifications:A valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for any position requiring driving.

Physical Requirements



  • Ability to speak, understand, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to hear adequately on the phone or in person and group settings.

  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and keyboard, sitting and/or standing up to 8-10 hours per day (possibly longer if overtime is required).

  • Mobility necessary to perform a variety of tasks that involve standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending and twisting, occasionally climbing stairs or using an elevator, possibly reaching chest high and overhead for materials.



  • Possess faculties, mobility and ability necessary to access research and interpret information from a variety of media (e.g., computer screen, projected images, and printed material) and individuals.

  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

  • Must be able to travel for extended periods of time


Environmental Conditions



  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

  • The employee will be required to perform field duty in an outside, risk environment with high levels of risk aversion and safety-oriented conditions present.
