Smiths Medical is currently hiring anProduct Line Engineer IIin Southington, CT.


TheProduct Line Engineer IIwill perform engineering work requiring full competency in all conventional aspects of engineering, plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and the substantial adaption of standard engineering techniques, procedures and requirements. This role will plan and coordinate detailed phases of engineering actions for part of a project.

Duties & Responsibilities




  • Conducts engineering activities of intermediate scope or degree of difficulty. This could include medium - large components/system, processes associated with a medium or large project.

  • Performs assignments independently with limited supervision as to expected results.

  • Conducts design testing.

  • Prepares documentation associated with engineering activities.

  • Determines resolution of intermediate technical issues as needed and assures that technical work meets specified requirements.

  • Ability to write test protocols.

  • Bringing up board for first time and bringing it to production.

  • Understands and follows requirements of SOPs.

  • Contributes to corrective action development and alternatives.

  • This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).

  • Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

The Individual




  • Minimum BS degree in Engineering field.

  • 2-5 years of experience or 1-2 years with an advanced degree.

  • Medical device experience preferred.

  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the engineering field.

  • General knowledge of the disciplines (GPM, GQR, Sales and Ops).

  • Experience with RF Specifically BLE and RFID.

  • Analog and Digital Electronics.

  • Altium CADD Package.

  • Visio preferred.

  • MS Project preferred.

  • Education requirements can be obtained through an educational institution or gained through equivalent work experience.
