Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, process timely and accurate Medicaid applications, assist with billing Medicaid, Medicare, and Third Party Insurances for a skilled nursing facility, collection of same, and response to requests  for analyses. Position also includes ensuring all required documents are collected to complete the Medicaid eligibility process.

The Assistant Business Office Manager is responsible for:


  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all regulatory requirements and related fiscal matters ensuring compliance with Long Term Care Medical Assistance and Medicare.

  • Assists families with completing the initial Long Term Care Medical Assistance and yearly redetermination Follows up with families and case managers for any needed information pertaining to MA eligibility.

  • Reviews, mails, or electronically submits Medicare (including Part A and B), Medicaid, and private insurance claims, and resubmission of all denied claims to the appropriate payer

  • Ensures all insurance companies are billed accurately and in a timely manner using correct forms, policies, and

  • Reviews remittance advices to ensure appropriate payments and corrections, and resubmission of claims to obtain accurate payment.

  • Assists with the month-end close process, including processing monthly statements (self-pay, private resource, and Medicare co-insurance due privately).

  • Assists with cross training of staff on rules, regulations, and practices of third party payer sources.

This position will require the following:


  • Must have three to five years Business Office experience in a Long Term Care facility.

  • Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and third party billing is required.

  • At least a high school degree or GED equivalent.

  • Must be knowledgeable of computer mainframe Accounts Receivable, Excel, and Word.

  • Familiarity with Point Click Care a plus.

  • Must be able to relate and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, agitated people within the Skilled Nursing Home.

  • Knowledge and experience with MS office suite to include Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
