The position serves as the primary resource to analyze user requirements, workflows, procedures, and problems in order to automate or modify existing systems. May be required to design, build and test enhancements. Maintains credentials to provide training on various client versions of EPIC, delivers content sessions, user exams and actively participates on system update project teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs analysis of work queues (charge review, claim edits, remittance, credits, insurance follow-up) to find trending errors. Provides guidance to applicable individuals or groups for improvement or problem resolution.
  • Manipulates existing reports in Epic to identify applicable data regarding productivity, denials, errors, payments, etc for the purpose of client optimization and RCM service delivery improvements.
  • Provides Epic technical support to internal staff and clients, including printing and related applications. Provides the support needed for client set-up and activation/implementation, as well as ongoing support to clients.
  • Performs work as needed in various work queues to support the team and our clients. This support is required specifically during client go-live situations and as needed to alleviate workload for the team. Additionally performing work may be needed to analyze, identify and resolve errors or concerns
  • Performs Epic build analysis to determine accuracy and effectiveness of build rules, possible errors, both Text and Hyperspace, and can include claims and remittance for build errors and omissions.
  • Provides training/guidance and tip sheets regarding resolution of issues in Epic, how to fix claims and other issues requiring assistance.
  • Acts as first level IT support for office, including phone system support.
  • Conducts all staff training on Epic platform for all Epic clients, in accordance with Epic credentialed trainer protocols and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Training/Education:

  • 5+ years direct relevant experience in Revenue Cycle
  • College or University degree preferred
  • Knowledge of Epic systems at the level required to obtain Credentialed Trainer.
  • Basic understanding of health insurance medical billing is preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Technical: Extensive knowledge on use of email, search engine, Internet; ability to effectively use payer websites and Laserfiche; knowledge and use of Microsoft Products: Outlook, Word, Excel. Can easily learn and adapt to various billing systems, knowledge of EMRs and interfaces. Preferred experience with various billing systems, such as Epic and others. Has exceptional technical acumen to drill down deeply into Epic and other systems in order to act as the expert in that area.

Personal: Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language to clients and staff at all levels; highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail; team-oriented, collaborative; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with multiple priorities while providing quality/accurate detailed work results. Extremely flexible able to quickly learn and quickly shifts from/to clients and projects as the needs arise with efficient hand offs to others. Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions. Ability to work in team environment and independently make decisions. Ability to think creatively and negotiate resolutions. At the same time as all of the above; effectively and appropriately collaborates with management and staff to standardize and enhance processes and results. Must exhibit a professional image and demeanor.

Communication: Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively and diplomatically to sensitive inquiries or complaints from employees and clients. Ability to speak clearly and to make effective and persuasive arguments and presentations. Demonstrates strong relationship skills, internally and externally, to maintain relationships with clients through integrity and accountability.

Math & Reasoning:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use critical thinking skills to apply principles of logic and analytical thinking to practical problems.
