POSITION SUMMARY:

If you are a Payroll professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Novi, Michigan or Florham Park, NJ location, you will oversee and supervise the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

 

AS A PAYROLL MANAGER, YOU WILL: 


  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates

  • Ensure compliance and best practices with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws

  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors

  • Prepare payroll journal entries and headcount report for month end closing

  • Reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts

  • Initiate ACH sales tax and specific wire

  • Coordinate and review Profit Sharing

  • Oversee expats requirements - COLA, Hypo Tax

  • Coordinate with Oracle Tax department on payroll tax registrations, notices, and other tax matters and provide required Tax workpapers to state

  • Administer various databases, such as, Oracle, ADP, and Kronos

  • Provide direction and guidance to direct reports; as well as, constructive and timely performance evaluations

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field required

  • 3-5 years of related payroll experience

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, related payroll software

  • Less than 10% travel

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States


 

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  


  • 5 years of experience in a high-volume payroll environment to include an understanding of the entire HCM process

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

  • Experience with Oracle a plus
