In this vital role as Thermal Purchasing Manager, you will direct the procurement of materials and services to support the production and business operations of the Group. The manager will develop and execute long- and short-term purchasing plans and monitors vendor performance to establish and maintain an effective supply base that meets Safety, Environmental, Quality, Cost and Delivery (SEQCD) standards.

Responsibilities include


  • Directs professional and clerical support personnel engaged in purchasing activities including:

  • Develops and implements department business plan, budget, and targets to achieve procurement objectives in alignment with Group and Company direction and policies.

  • Establishes strategic sourcing and purchasing plans to leverage the cost and availability of goods and services while maintaining the inventory and supplies necessary for the production supply chain and Group operations.

  • Directs the analysis and forecast of market conditions, price trends, and future markets.

  • Recommends and implements cost down initiatives in line with Group objectives and the projected supply and demand of commodities and materials.

  • Determines and oversees the implementation of the most appropriate and cost-effective procurement methods, processes, tools and systems.

  • Establishes procurement priorities and schedules needed to establish and maintain an efficient supply chain in coordination with executives and managers from engineering, R&D, production, production control, and quality assurance.

  • Directs the sourcing and selection of materials and services from outside vendors.

  • Performs or oversees the negotiation and maintenance of supplier agreements and contracts that define quality, delivery schedules, pricing, and other terms and conditions.

  • Approves purchase orders for inventory items and Non-Inventory items.

  • Conducts and manages supplier evaluations and performance regarding price, quality, service support, availability, and reliability for Procurement department.

  • Establishes and maintains certification and qualification programs to build a vendor base that meets SEQCD standards.

  • Manages and/or terminates vendor relationships to ensure materials and services meet business requirements.

  • Establishes and/or implements certification and qualification programs to build a vendor base that meets SEQCD standards.

  • Reviews, analyzes and summarizes procurement results and prepares presentations to inform senior management of department progress toward business objectives.



Qualified candidates will possess


  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Engineering or related field required.

  • Minimum 6-10 years of procurement and supply chain planning experience in a manufacturing environment required.

  • Minimum 5 years successfully managing and leading a team in a manufacturing environment.

  • CPSM certification preferred.

  • Chemical commodity purchasing experience required; thermal chemical purchasing a plus.

  • Must have a strong negotiating background working with domestic and international vendors and other parties external to the Company and a proven track record of cost reductions.

  • Must have working knowledge of local and international commodities markets and contracts and purchasing agreement preparation.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills needed to resolve complex and/or high impact supply chain and product quality problems, often requiring collaboration with other departments, vendors or customers.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, exercise good judgment, manage changing and conflicting priorities and resolve problems appropriately.

  • Proactive work style, creativity, and energy.

  • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Experience in leading continuous improvement activities utilizing Lean and 5S methodologies.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all business levels internal and with external customers.

  • Excellent communication and written skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office 365.
