Emerson’s Digital Transformation business is hiring a key position to support our internal focused and customer facing teams during the pursuit of Cloud-hosted commercial solutions.  In this role you will assist account teams, solutions architects, and project managers and manage technical customer engagements related to the delivery of Emerson cloud hosted solutions.

As a Cloud Architect, you will:

Cloud Business Enablement


  • Support and expedite the delivery of engineered cloud solutions that ensure leverage of standard / approved solutions and adherence to operational processes and cybersecurity principals

  • Serve as business lead and partner with Cybersecurity and Communication functions to build and maintain customer-facing cybersecurity messaging proactively providing documentation to expedite contract agreement processes

  • Contribute to the development of reference architectures for cloud solutions

Cloud Contracts Management


  • Be the technical leader of Cloud-centric Commercial Agreement Standards for Automation Solutions

  • Partner with Emerson contract negotiations teams to build and maintain standard T&C’s for Cloud centric commercial projects and enterprise frame agreements

Cloud Compliance and Regulation


  • Work with Cloud Operations function to successfully execute internal and customer required cloud ecosystem and process audits to comply with agreements and standards like Cloud Security Alliance, IEC 27001, 27017, 27019, SOC2, and IEC 62443.

  • Provide compliance roadmap input to business operations and product development processes for commercial cloud centric offerings

Cloud Operational Readiness


  • Ensure that services comply with standards for Data Handling, Storage, Retention, Localization, Resiliency, etc.

  • Work with internal teams, including but not limited to: Automation Solutions IT, Automation Solutions Cybersecurity, Business Unit Marketing and Operations, Automation Solution Cloud Operations and the Cloud Center of Excellence

Required Education, Experience & Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in a global environment

  • Ability to engage in cloud or remote offering negotiations at a detailed level

  • Experience in facilitating the delivery of software or cloud-related services to customers

  • Conceptual understanding of support and management of secure connectivity models via customer networks, dedicated wireless networks, VPN, Remote Desktop services, Device-as-a-Service

  • Familiarity with new IoT software technologies – Big data storage, Python, CosmosDB, streaming analytics

  • Ability to read, develop and maintain detailed IT/OT reference architectures

  • IIoT and related data architectures

  • IT Operational monitoring and event management

  • Experience with Patch Management Solutions and program elements

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

  • Travel required (30% of time)

  • Based in Austin, TX, Eden Prairie, MN, St Louis, MO or Boulder, CO

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills


  • Software and/or programming experiences

  • Network cybersecurity knowledge, on premises, and edge to the cloud

  • Experience with Virtualization technologies

  • Backup & DR solutions and recovery technologies

  • Azure (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, subscription management, ARM) or equivalent cloud infrastructure experience

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes

  • Traditional Server and application hosted solutions

    • MS-Windows server OS, all versions and Unix or open source alternatives

    • MS Windows Server networking services (AD, IP protocol, DNS, DHCP, NetBIOS, WSUS, etc.)

    • MS Client OS, all active versions


  • Project Management experience – formal training beneficial

  • Language knowledge: effectively Fluent in English (speaking / writing), other languages an advantage

  • Flexible attitude towards working hours; ability to accommodate international team meetings

  • Participation in relevant technology and industry activities

In accordance with Colorado EPEWA, the Salary range for this role is $104,200 - $162,015+ annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to this role.
