Superintendent - Processing Plant at Koch Foods

Job Description:

In 1985, Koch Foods started as a one-room chicken de-boning and cutting operation with 13 employees. We’ve grown to be one of the top poultry processors in the U.S., but the core of who we are remains unchanged: a team that is adept, reliable and service oriented.

The Plant Superintendent is primarily responsible for operation of assigned supervisors within department. The Superintendent will ensure efficiency of manufacturing quality product, and safety of team members while adhering to Company policies and procedures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership and direction for assigned supervisors

  • Responsible for departmental operations including safety, production, quality, and employee relations

  • Develop, lead, train and coach supervisors and production employees

  • Enforce company policies, procedures, regulations and practices, including GMP’s

  • Manage budgetary functions enabling plant to meet Company goals while remaining competitive within the market

  • Maximize yield and throughputs, while minimizing waste and unnecessary production costs

  • Meet turnover goals, assisting HR with management of appropriate staffing levels

  • Ensure timely fulfillment of orders and product, meeting customer standards and expectations

  • Inspect production processes and products, ensuring compliance with USDA and company standards

  • Manage relationship with USDA Inspectors and Quality Assurance

  • Assist in interview, selection, training, onboarding and coaching of new and existing Supervisors 

  • All other relevant production duties as assigned

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Poultry Science, Business Management or other closely related field of study

  • 3+ years production experience; poultry industry experience preferred

  • Complex mathematical knowledge and ability

  • Knowledge and understanding of computer operations and programs, with ability to create and comprehend complex Excel spreadsheets

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent leadership skills

Physical/Environmental Factors:


  • Cold, humid environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees

  • Stand/walk majority of shift 

  • Climb stairs, frequently stoop, kneel, crawl, bend and left various weights

  • Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels

  • Exposure to strong raw odors, including ammonia
