Job Description:

Commercial Banking (CB) delivers extensive industry knowledge, local expertise and seamless global capabilities to clients-including corporations, municipalities, financial institutions, real estate investors and owners, and not-for-profit organizations. We offer a comprehensive set of financial products and services including credit, asset-based lending, real estate finance and treasury. We also provide clients with access to investment banking, asset management, and treasury services.

We're looking for a passionate communicator to lead Communications for JPMorgan Chase's Commercial Real Estate (CRE) business as well as support other CB initiatives. This leader would work very closely with the Internal Communications lead and Marketing team for Commercial Real Estate. This person will also be instrumental in telling our digital transformation and community impact stories, inside and outside the firm.

JPMorgan Chase's CRE business provides property owners, developers and investors the financial resources they need for real estate investments large and small. These include multifamily lending, commercial mortgage lending, community development and real estate banking services. Our CRE business is also a strategic part of the firm's $30 billion dollar commitment to advancing racial equity , in regards to expanding and preserving affordable housing and supporting vital institutions.

We're seeking a strategic communicator to drive a holistic communications program that supports all of CRE, including each sub-line of business and local efforts, including Commercial Term Lending, Real Estate Banking and Community Development Banking. In addition to external communications and media relations, this team member will contribute to and advise on employee engagement, content strategy, executive communications and social and digital media. This self-starter would also support Commercial Banking's Community Impact efforts, shedding light on how each of the lines of business invests in and supports local communities. The role will report to the head of Commercial Banking communications.

This role requires a motivated leader who can plan and execute high impact projects end-to-end strategically, effectively and creatively. Key attributes for this role include: holistic and strategic thinking and planning, creative storytelling, media relations, crisis communications, strong writer, executive presence, flexibility, collaboration and attention to detail.

Responsibilities :


  • Work closely with senior leadership to execute a communications plan against key priorities
  • Build relationships and work closely with CRE's business leaders and bankers to understand their communications needs and tell the business' stories
  • Build relationships with key national, trade and local media; create and maintain media lists and conduct ongoing media relations
  • Initiate and manage projects around key milestones, announcements, initiatives, people etc.
  • Identify new and creative communications and storytelling opportunities
  • Develop and contribute to communications assets including press releases, key messages and talking points, content and thought leadership, client stories, newsletters, intranet, etc.
  • Collaborate across the Commercial Banking Marketing & Communications organization on executive communications, employee engagement, social media, content development, events, client stories, etc.
  • Support our community impact efforts - develop and execute stories demonstrating the business' impact in local communities, identify opportunities to tell holistic firmwide community impact stories, inserting CB into firmwide efforts (e.g. philanthropic investment announcements, affordable housing efforts, etc.)
  • Partner closely with design team to tell visual stories (e.g., infographics, videos, podcasts)
  • Track and measure results, finding opportunities to report on and highlight results with senior executives

Qualifications :

  • 10+ years of experience in communications
  • Proven experience in holistic, strategic communications planning and execution
  • Creative storytelling skills, with an understanding of internal and external cross-channel promotion
  • Strong media relations background
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills
  • Strong executive presence and ability to effectively advise and partner with senior leaders
  • Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team and contribute on a strategic and tactical level
  • Understanding of the financial services industry
  • Understanding of the commercial real estate industry a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize high volume, high priority initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations
  • High level of independence, energy and integrity; demonstrates respect for a diversity of opinions and styles, and accepts accountability and responsibility
  • Ability to effectively advise, partner and collaborate with executive team members and peers in order to execute on assignments
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize high volume, high priority initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Additional software skills (e.g., Photoshop, HTML, Adobe Creative Suite) a plus
