Job Description:

TITLE:            Maintenance Manager/Sr. Naval Architect


LOCATION:   304 Gaille Drive, Covington, LA 70433


DUTIES:


Provide engineering support for engineering services relating to the design, building, retrofitting, and operations of Weeks Marine’s dredging equipment. Oversee the design, modification, and maintenance of equipment group, including research, inspections, equipment testing, component testing, hull modeling, finite element analysis, stability analysis, design, and modification of all aspects of dredging equipment and components. Perform and develop calculations and supporting reports, including stability analysis, hull sections modulus calculations, longitudinal strength calculations, and hull scantlings calculations. Develop tank tables and ullage charts. Develop and review drawings. Oversee the work of in-house engineers, marine engineers, naval engineers, and outside marine and naval engineering firms. Serve as project and construction manager for physical execution of projects, including vessel drydocking, equipment repair, maintenance and modification, and new construction. Plan, supervise, and direct the development of maintenance of marine equipment. Develop work scopes for repair, maintenance, and modification. Prepare budgets, shipyard schedules, and progress reports for new build, repairs, and modification work. Review design proposals and specifications to develop concepts and establish basic characteristics of craft. Work in naval architecture or marine engineering. Adhere to governing rules relative to engineering and design, including American Bureau of Shipping and United States Coast Guard. Utilize the following tools: RHINO, GHS, Solidworks and AutoCAD for 3-Dimensional design FEA.


EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:                                                                         

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a related field. Must have passed the Professional Engineering exam (in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering). Must have 2 years’ experience: (i) working in naval architecture or marine engineering; (ii) working with governing rules relative to engineering and design, including American Bureau of Shipping and United States Coast Guard; and (iii) utilizing the following tools: Rhinoceros (RHINO), General Hydrostatics (GHS), Solidworks, and AutoCAD for 3-Dimensional design Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
