Title: Business Unit Manager, Cutting Operations- 71877

Your Responsibilities

As the Business Unit Manager for Cutting Operations at John Deere Ottumwa Works located in Ottumwa, Iowa, you will:


  • Lead a team of approximately 6 direct reports and 150 production employees for all processes for cutting equipment manufacturing; processes include primaries, machining, weld, assembly, and paint.
  • Establish business unit metrics, plans, and strategies, while module leaders (production supervisors) are responsible for execution.
  • Responsible for setting and meeting goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Efficiency.
  • Responsible for leading employee engagement, development and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and ensure manufacturing and operations readiness for EPDP (new products) for cutting operations.
  • Development of business unit strategic plan and long-range goals and objectives.
  • Using models, ensure there is a staffing plan to support orders.
  • Counsel and advise supervisors on grievances, training, procedures, discipline and other issues.

What Skills You Need


  • Four or more years' manufacturing and/or operations experience
  • One or more years' experience in budgeting, forecasting and scheduling
  • Two or more years' experience supervising production employees
  • One or more years' demonstrated team leadership and mentoring experience
  • Fostering teamwork (collaboratively)
  • Ability to lead a large and dynamic team in a production environment
  • Extensive operations experience as a Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer or other Order Fulfillment Process related roles
  • Strategic thinking and ability communicate vision to the production workforce
  • Ability to formulate plans and facilitate efforts associated with new product introduction within the Production Unit with product engineering, supply management, manufacturing engineering, and facilities
  • Proven ability to use data and develop analytics to make business decisions

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in a Business/Management, Engineering/Technology or Supply Management discipline or equivalent work experience
