The AT&T Global Public Sector Technology Office supports the US Federal Government and international agencies in designing, documenting, socializing, and ordering critical, full-spectrum data network services, including wireline and wireless data, cybersecurity, and managed network services.

AT&T has an opening for a Principal Architect to support the US Federal Government sector. The Principal Architect is responsible for serving as a technical leader and recognized internal expert on complex, multi-domain solutions or the business unit subject-matter expert for a key strategic line of business.   This position will serve as a 5G architecture and solution SME.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

The Principal Architect is a technology leader who works with clients, engineering staff, and AT&T product teams to develop, promote, and implement integrated solutions.  This position requires strong knowledge of emerging 5G mobile, fixed, and edge solutions.  It also requires knowledge of Federal procurement and security compliance practices and the ability to position AT&T offerings in a competitive marketplace.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops solutions that assist customers in managing major business processes in their overall enterprise structure.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of one or more industries, trends, and solutions.
  • Collaborates and confers with the customer in the strategic design process and translates business needs into technical system solutions.
  • Directly assists customers in the development of fully integrated systems including processors, peripherals, communications, operating systems, and applications software.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise in hardware capabilities, software requirements, and systems integration.
  • Determines the availability and viability of third-party components and services as needed.
  • Validates third-party components comply with established architecture.
  • Develops and design specifications for products and technologies.
  • Designs quality control and test procedures to ensure the deliverables meet established design and performance goals.
  • Validates design proposals meet the customer’s needs. Identifies, analyzes, and evaluates alternative design solutions.
  • Approves integrated systems design proposals for technical content.
  • Establishes cost and time estimates for implementation.
  • Monitors the implementation for technical correctness to ensure the customer needs are met.
  • Creates recommendations and implements new methods, techniques, and/or procedures

Required Clearance: Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance.  

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Telecommunications/Networking
  • Proven ability to act as a consultative seller and apply deep technical knowledge to solving customers’ mission needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external cross-functional organizations and customers.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work well both independently and as proactive team member.
  • Experience across the telecommunications data, IP, and/or cybersecurity service portfolio.
  • Proven ability to work with wide range of organizations and extended teams.
  • Strong knowledge of mobile network standards and architectures (e.g., 3GPP) and adjacent technologies (e.g., MEC).
  • Working knowledge of Federal telecommunications and IT standards, such as FIPS 140-2, FISMA, and FedRAMP, DOD ILs, and their application to networking services.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree strongly preferred, Masters degree in a relevant area (Telecommunications, Computer Science) preferred.
  • 10+ years technical consulting experience.
