Maintenance Mechanic

Essity Manufacturing Professional Hygiene North America is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at our manufacturing facility in Greenwich, NY.

The MaintenanceMechanic is responsible for defined maintenance activities in the Greenwich Converting facility. This role maintains the machines based on preventive and predictive maintenance concept. The MaintenanceJourneyman is responsible for troubleshooting technical problems and solving these problems using the DDS approach of safely addressing technical issues in support of continuous improvement of quality and machine.

About the Role

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the repairs and adjustments of all equipment in the facility. The successful candidate will be maintaining and updating all necessary documentation and plays an important role in the facility's preventative maintenance program. This role requires and individual to take a proactive approach to safely service machinery while in operation.

What You Will Do


  • Shares in the responsibility for the safe performance of team members;

  • Supports efforts that promote a safe work culture. Identifies safety hazards and unsafe acts and takes timely and appropriate action. Models safety as a visible priority on a daily basis;

  • Takes proactive approach to adjustments and repairs;

  • Maintains documentation on and communicates to others, repairs;

  • Regularly inspects equipment for wear and orders parts before they are required;

  • Works with Store Room Coordinator to assure proper stocking levels of parts and supplies;

  • Maintains equipment and performs related duties to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant. Works all equipment failures to root cause and puts action steps in place to prevent reoccurrences;

  • Assists with machine component rebuilds and the facility's Preventative Maintenance program and procedures;

  • Ensures timely completion of assigned PMs and other tasks;

  • Follows established safety and environmental policies and procedures, and promotes continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance in the workplace;

  • Is familiar with OSHA regulations pertaining to lock-out-tag-out, confined space protocols, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and certain basic chemical handling procedures;

  • Has thorough knowledge of facility and support systems (i.e. compressed air, vacuum pumps, boilers, stock and water pumps);

  • Actively participates in required training, taking responsibility for one's own success;

  • Trains other personnel on proper diagnostic and repair techniques.

Who You Are


  • High school graduate or equivalent required;

  • Journeyman Certification preferred;

  • 5+ years ofmaintenanceexperience required;

  • Has thorough understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical functionality;

  • Ability to useall hand tools, machine shop tools, welding equipment and personal computer to diagnose and repair equipment;

  • Has experience in rebuilding parts, basic fabrication and welding skills, and good workmanship;

  • Proficient with computers and knowledge of MS Office software.
