Director, Category Insights - Ecommerce

Mission and defining characteristics:

  • Drive and present long term category strategy (Skin & HairCare focus) and vision (3-5 yr outlook) leveraging trend, market, and shopper insights to management committee in order to reach consensus and commitment on appropriate opportunities CPD brands should pursue with a focus on Amazon and key dot.com: Walmart, Ulta, Target
  • Explore, develop, and leverage deep shopper, social, market insights to drive short term category strategies for field teams to execute opportunities for retailer and CPD brands
  • Serve as shopper expert for Sales, Marketing, Shopper Marketing and Brand Business Develop teams

Main tasks:

Customer Category Insights Partnership

  • Drive & Strengthen "Trusted Category Advisor" position at key retailers (Amazon) to drive joint value.
  • Co-Develop Learning Agenda with Amazon Insights Lead on Skin & Haircare to improve Beauty Customer Experience on the platform.
  • Identify, Develop, & Present shopper opportunities to Amazon to increase their customer experience & beauty share of wallet.

Develop, own and drive category shopper expertise to drive market share

  • Identify, share, and align on category opportunities across key ecommerce accounts (Amazon Focus). Deliver action steps to commercial sales teams for retail specific implementation that will drive dollar share growth, Improve Discoverability, & Increase Conversion. (Focus on Amazon)
  • Support Amazon team by providing shopper insights and distribution opportunities based on CPD brand and shopper alignment.
  • Utilize Market, Retailer, & Shopper data to define forward looking category opportunities & quantify size of prize & key levers/solutions to capture it.
  • Develop the blueprint for Product, Promotion, Placement, Price, & Page across Pure Players (ie: Amazon) & E-Retailers. Codify new analyses relevant to driving ecommerce traffic, conversion, & basket size across relevant categories.
  • Uncover emerging omni shopper trends, where we partner with CMI to create a Shopper/Consumer centric story that provides Marketing with insight, validation, and recommendations
  • Drive recommendation for category-level site experience and navigation through shopper insights studies. Summarize & Socialize actionable outputs to internal/external stakeholders (Sales/Marketing Teams & Retailers)

Democratize Data & Insights across the organization

  • Lead all relevant data organization and data mining of new and existing data sources (Rakuten, Profitero, Data Impact, Syndigo, Mozenda, etc.)
  • Partner with Ecommerce Data Engineers to develop eCommerce dashboards and reporting for a cross-functional leadership audience; track key performance metrics for eCommerce performance.
  • Leverage Data Visualization Tools (Tableau, PowerBI) to share data/insights across the organization.
  • Support/Train Cross Functional Partners (Sales, Marketing, Cat Dev, Supply Chain) on Digital Tool Kit, & Shopper Behavior shifts to ensure E-Commerce is at the forefront of our commercial strategy.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in Ecommerce sales, Ecommerce analytics (search, content, navigation), Omni channel category management
  • Ideally, experience with tools such as Rakuten, EDGE, Profitero, Markettrack, Nielsen, L2, Kantar, Euromonitor
  • Proven experience of landing retailer strategies and projects
  • Proven ability in managing complexity while driving strategies across multiple categories
  • Multi category experience
  • Shopper insights knowledge
