The Content Manager is accountable for developing and implementing content strategies for client experience communications in Ascensus' Retirement and FuturePlan lines of business. These communications to financial advisors, third-party administrators (TPAs), retirement plan sponsors, and retirement plan participants are essential to driving satisfaction, retention, and brand loyalty among these audiences. The Content Manager will be instrumental in telling the Ascensus story and advancing our mission of helping individuals save for the future.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties, and Responsibilities
Content Strategy
Drive the content strategy and written creation of educational and operational communications, e-newsletters, video content, and web copy in line with all corporate brand expectations
Develop and oversee clear, actionable, engaging communications that turn clients into loyal fans
Oversee the ongoing maintenance of communications materials and web content
Support technology efforts related to educational content and user experience
Project Ownership
Devote approximately 40-50% of time to writing polished, clear, and engaging copy and performing project management and oversight for select projects
Participate in and adhere to quality control best practices related to proofreading, managing reviews, and securing approvals
Brand Stewardship
Adhere to brand standards and compliance procedures for material approvals, including the effective delivery, audit, and maintenance of programs and materials
Protect, secure, and properly handle all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients

Primary Areas of Focus
Lead content creation from ideation through execution
Manage a small, high-performing team in a productive, creative, and collaborative environment
Partner with strategic leaders, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to understand business opportunities, ensure alignment, and set content positioning
Selectively act as the writer for key initiatives or to help keep projects moving
Section 3: Leadership Skills
Supervise, coach, and develop a team of content specialist(s) and content strategist(s) focused on customer experience communications
Represent Marketing at key meetings to provide status updates, socialize marketing ideas, secure buy-in, and to make project decisions
Create trust and partnership within and outside Marketing to manage content needs smartly and collaboratively
Oversee the progression of key projects from conception to completion, providing editorial reviews, project management (if applicable), and approvals
A deep understanding of Ascensus' Retirement and Future Plan lines of business
Agility to seamlessly navigate between the strategic and the tactical, the creative and the operational
A servant-leadership approach to developing and motivating talent
An unwavering focus on delivering client experiences that delight-from the smallest detail to the big picture
Experience
Minimum of 7 years of related experience; financial services experience strongly preferred
Four-year college degree, marketing/communications or related field
Experience working with MS Product Suite including PowerPoint; CRM and CMS experience a plus
Proven ability to positively influence outcomes
Proven experience managing, building, and motivating teams

Exceptional writing and editing skills, including a demonstrated ability to simplify complex concepts and make them clear, actionable, and meaningful
Advanced communication and presentation skills-creative, persuasive, and succinct
Critical thinking skills and a bias for action; adept at prioritization, decision making and problem solving
Superior organization and planning skills: set goals, then drive, monitor, and communicate progress
Strong attention to detail related to material accuracy, consistency, brand standards, project planning, proofreading, and client experience
