Why Hearst Magazines?

Hearst Magazines is one of the largest publishers in the world, with more than 25 brands, including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Harper’s BAZAAR, Popular Mechanics, and Delish. We reach more than 150 million people every month in the United States alone.

But we’re more than just our magazines. We engage our audience across all mediums and channels—print, digital, video, and social—with sophisticated content creation, distribution, and data capabilities. We create, package, and sell products with cutting-edge technology and proprietary platforms. Together, we are reinventing publishing for the 21st century.

Your impact:

Cosmopolitan is looking for an assistant commerce editor to help drive market and shopping coverage across its digital platforms (with contributions to the print magazine) by writing and editing original articles, listicles, and galleries. The big picture? Crush our e-commerce efforts across the brand—a high-focus priority for the years ahead. This position will report to the fashion features director and the lifestyle director. Please note: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in .pdf format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to a portfolio of work.

What you’ll do:

·       Write and edit multiple fun, fresh stories with a strong, engaging voice.

·       Track performance and test new theories to increase our content's value to consumers.

·       Contribute to large-scale e-commerce moments like Amazon Prime Day, Hauliday, and Cyber Monday.

·       Monitor traffic and other analytics to understand when coverage is working and adapt quickly when it isn't.

·       Develop a deep knowledge of readers’ consumer habits.

·       Occasionally assign and edit freelance work.

·       Contribute ideas and copy for Cosmopolitan's print magazine and brand extensions.

Who you are:

• 1+ years of editorial experience at a digital media brand, preferably in the women's lifestyle space.

• Able to write fast, clean copy with a Cosmo voice.

• Knowledge of women's fashion as well as the gifts and lifestyle markets.

• Experienced in balancing many different factors—from SEO and affiliate revenue to traffic and aesthetics—to optimize online content.

• Invested in the overall success of Cosmopolitan.

• Understand analytics tools like Google Analytics, Looker, and others.

• Have a bachelor's degree.
