The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
 

As a Machinist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by applying the following skills:

• Translate the requirements of detailed part drawings, models, and job instructions into machining methods to accurately create finished parts.


• Set up, program, and operate CNC machining equipment.  Operate grinders, presses, and other machine shop equipment.


• Maintain a high standard of quality.  Set-up and operator precision testing and measuring instruments.


• Work within 3M environmental, health, and safety standards.


• Communicate daily with supervisors, leads, and other employees.

Your Skills and Expertise 
 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Possess a two (2) year Technical degree, certificate or diploma (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution AND three (3) years of machinist experience


• OR a High School Diploma (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution AND five (5) years of machinist experience.


• Must be able to work 2nd shift

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Familiar with small- and large-scale machine operation and assembly, including use of Cranes, Hoists, Machine Tools and Alignment Equipment.

• Familiar and comfortable with MANUAL machining practices. This includes Engine Lathes, Manual Mills, Grinders, etc.


• Leadership, creativity with building fixtures, and thinking “outside the box”.


• Experience using one or more CAD/CAM software packages. Use of NX software.


• Knowledge of a wide range of equipment and Machine Controls
