Human Resources Generalist at The Kendal Corporation

Job Description:

Reporting to the Sr. VP Human Resources, the Junior Human Resources Generalist and The Kendal Human Resources Team function as the subject matter experts for 14 companies in the Kendal system. The Generalist will assist in supporting the payroll and human resources staff throughout the system with a focus on customer service and consensus building. Responsibilities will involve a broad spectrum of assignments including functioning as the payroll backup and assisting with HRIS maintenance.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  1. Assist with payroll auditing, accounting, transactions, reporting and other payroll related operations. Serve as backup for bi-weekly payroll processing. Assist with tax calculations and filing activities as per IRS regulations. Research and analyze timekeeping issues; resolve or escalate issues as appropriate. Assist with supporting interfaces and file feeds with third party vendors and assist with the financial audit.

  2. Support and maintain the organization’s HRIS application (UltiPro/UKG Pro). Responsible for processing new hires, position changes, status changes, and terminations in the HRIS system.

  3. Assist with benefits administration including performing a regular analysis of benefit and system data to ensure data integrity and adherence to policy and assisting with the audit of the retirement plans.

  4.  Support compensation planning for the Kendal System; develop, review and update job descriptions as required; conduct position analyses as needed, identify relevant compensation surveys, participate in selective salary surveys; provide relevant data to affiliates as required.

  5. Responsible for HR compliance by maintaining the HR calendar and assisting in reviewing policies and practices. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.


  6. Provides guidance to affiliate HR staff on a variety of HR questions and issues and recommends and implements solutions as appropriate. Recommends process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes which will streamline and enhance services and/or operations.


  7. Supports the department by preparing materials for the monthly system-wide human resources meetings, creating and maintain training documentation, responding to special requests for reports as needed, and responding to general inquiries from employees and referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff member.


  8. Assists with recruiting, onboarding, and orientation to ensure efficiency.

  9. Perform all other duties as assigned.

  10. Conforms with the requirements of the compliance program by understanding and adhering to Kendal’s Compliance Program and Policies as they appear in the Code of Conduct and other compliance policies. Annually acknowledges review of the Code of Conduct by signature, and annually attends corporate compliance education. Adheres to the policies and procedures covering Privacy and Security in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS



  • 5 years Human Resources experience

  • Strong knowledge of applicable Federal, multiple state and Local laws.

  • Knowledge of regulations as they relate to payroll processing.

  • Minimum of two (2) years payroll processing responsibilities, preferably in an operation with variable shift rules and pay. 

  • Knowledge and experience with benefits, compensation, recruitment, and employee relations.

  • Minimum of two (2) years benefits experience.

  • Experience with UKG (formerly Ultimate Software) preferred.

  • BS in related field preferred.

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
