Position Summary:
The Life Insurance Claims Adjuster is a role in a high-energy, fast-paced, changing environment that’s responsible for investigating, evaluating and processing life claims. The role works extensively with our internal claims staff, collaborates with our First Notice of Loss (FNOL), Simple Adjudication Team (SAT) & Claims Processing Team (CPT) teams to ensure effective administration of claims handling with a focus on an exceptional customer experience.
The Life Claims Adjustor should possess experience in universal and complex life adjudication. The role requires a forward thinker, to help enhance life claims handling capabilities to meet current and future business needs.
Responsibilities:
Accurately process claims under Life Insurance coverage.
Evaluate claim submission, determine policy benefits and request additional information as required to finalize claim.
Manage pending files.
Create claim related correspondence.
Interface with Policyholders and Agents answering a variety of questions through different service channels – phone, email and web
Manage continuing waiver of premium claims.
Assist in preparation of SIU cases and preliminary investigation of suspected fraud.
Meet Department metrics for time service and quality.
Build broad understanding of products and systems
Ability to maneuver between system applications confidently to find information and respond to customer needs in a timely manner
Collaborate with others to ensure effective resolution of customer needs, follow-up and workflow
Performs other duties as assigned
Skills:
Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Excellent judgment, research, and organizational skills
Detailed-oriented with the ability to work well independently and with others
Quality and Customer Centric Orientation
Ability to multi-task in fast pace environment with attention to detail
Proficient in MS Office – Outlook, Word and Excel
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field from an accredited four -year institution
2 years Life Claim adjudication experience in life insurance preferred
Experience with Universal Life and complex life arrangements
Adjudicating life claim incontestable and/or contestable claims a plus
Experience in a customer interfacing position with progressive responsibility in role
Leadership role in school or community
Ability to communicate in multiple languages – English, Spanish (Bilingual a plus)
Knowledge of medical terminology
Industry courses from organizations such as ICA, AHIP, LOMA preferred
