A Senior Paralegal will generally have at least three years of experience as a paralegal in the financial services industry, specifically related to the Investment Company Act of 1940. A Senior Paralegal will have significant responsibility for the provision of day-to-day legal administration services to one or several clients and/or the completion of one or more assigned projects.
A Senior Paralegal must demonstrate an ability to work with general direction from attorneys and more senior paralegals and must be adept at juggling priorities for multiple projects to meet deadlines based on changing client and department needs. A Senior Paralegal should have excellent working knowledge of electronic data management products used to build registration statements, such as ArcProspectus.
The following are specific responsibilities of a Senior Paralegal:
Maps and updates data on ArcProspectus
Prepares and/or reviews filings with the SEC (including annual updates to Registration Statements on Form S-1 and S-3, Registration Statements on Form N-1A, supplements, fidelity bonds, Form 8-A, Form N-PX, and wrappers for Form N-CSR)
Drafts, updates and adheres to procedures and templates relating to, for example, registration statement disclosure for investment risks, and the purchasing and selling of fund shares
Drafts, maintains and takes responsibility for compliance with corporate filings calendars and recurring board agendas
Provides occasional assistance with the preparation and maintenance of Board meeting materials.
Coordinates with clients, and other internal and external fund service providers with respect to fund issues
Works at the general direction of more senior paralegals or attorneys in the delivery of legal administration services to clients
May participate in special projects for which the problems and issues are clearly defined
Capable of acting as a resource for more junior paralegals
Prepares, updates and presents the agenda for weekly internal team meeting
Assists with the maintenance of client records and follows internal guidelines for scanning and archiving of records
