Summary of Position

Howmet Engineered Structures (HES) is seeking a strong business unit (BU) Accounting and Finance Manager with high energy and drive. This position is accountable for managing a broad range of financial and operational analysis activities for the HES Business Unit. This position will report to the HES Director of Finance and be based in Cleveland, OH. Essential Functions : The BU Accounting and Finance Manager, HES position includes both creation of strategic vision, and tactical management including execution. Examples include but are not limited to:


  • Manage the BU financial forecast and annual business plan preparation and development process utilizing Hyperion.
  • Develop and maintain standard financial reporting and in-depth analysis of financial results.
  • Manage the content for the BU monthly and quarterly reporting packages for senior leadership. This will include bridges, schedules, performance tables and ad hoc analysis.
  • Manage month-end closing and reporting activities for the Headquarters location, including account reconciliations and coordination of closing entries with other HES locations.
  • Analyze financial data, identify and report progress toward plan commitments, financial performance achievements and trends, and identify opportunities to influence financial performance.
  • Manage compliance requirements for the Headquarters location to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and corporate policy is followed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Economics and Accounting - Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Strong accounting/GAAP knowledge
  • SOX and internal control reporting experience
  • Mastery of Technology Skills - Accounting and Finance software: Hyperion, Oracle E-Business Suite, SAP; Spreadsheet software: Microsoft Excel; Office Suite software: Microsoft Office and PowerPoint
  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Law and Government - Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in financial analysis

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint

• Experience with Hyperion/ Oracle/ SAP or other ERP system

• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years' experience in financial analysis in the manufacturing industry.

• Master of Business Administration (MBA), CMA and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

• Experience with Cost Accounting

•Proficient with Hyperion/Oracle/SAP
