Mixer Operator - 2nd Shift

This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business helping our network of local cooperatives, independent dealers and other large retailers serve producers, and animal owners throughout the United States. Through industry leading R&D and committed partnerships, we innovate the nutrition products and practices that unlock the full potential of every animal for a healthier, more productive life.

The Mixer Operator performs all ingredient preparations, including hand adding ingredients and animal medications, within the Purina Animal Nutrition, LLC guidelines for Feed Quality Manufacturing Systems (FQMS). This Mixer Operator will assist in any inventory processes as needed by supervision. The Mixer Operator must know and understand all ingredients (including medications).

The Mixer Operator must comply with Purina Animal Nutrition, LLC Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), including established housekeeping guidelines, and abide by all Federal and State regulations for animal medication handling as outlined by the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In addition, all required documentation must be completed in a timely manner and on a daily basis.

WAGE:

* 21.44/ Hour

HOURS:

* 2nd Shift (2:00pm - 10:30pm)

EDUCATION:

* High School Diploma or GED Certificate

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must possess knowledge of how to complete work orders

* This person must be able to lift at least 60 pounds from the floor to a height of 60 inches using safe lifting practices.

* Proficiently operate a forklift truck in a safe manner.

* Be able to withstand heights such as tops of bins, legs, and other equipment.

* Purina requires all employees to work together to produce a quality product in a prompt and courteous manner.

* Individual must accurately complete all daily documentations for in-house and regulatory.

* This person must be able to perform required job functions and duties sufficiently with minimal supervision.

* Must be able to perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; twist at core; stoop; climb up and down stairs and ladders; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds from the floor to a height of 50 inches. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

EXPECTATIONS:

Work safely, efficiently, and effectively to maintain desired production rates. Accurately complete all paperwork according to FQMS and regulatory compliance. Clean up and dispose of all trash accumulated during shift before leaving for the day. Communicate with Production Supervisor, Quality Program Supervisor, or Lead Person when required product is not available or out-of-spec quality conditions exist. Supervisor will communicate with other pertinent operators to work out a plan to meet customer demands.

Mixer Operator will keep working area swept and clean at all times according to housekeeping rules and guidelines. Blow down after shift end to help maintain clean operating equipment. Dispose of spilled product appropriately. Operators are accountable for their time here and we strive to maintain a clean and safe working environment. All operators are expected to use appropriate housekeeping methods to keep their area clean.

Mixer Operator Expectations:

* Mixer Operator performs all ingredient preparations, including hand adding ingredients and animal medications

* The Mixer Operator is responsible for keeping all downstream operations supplied with materials that relate to ingredient additions

* Mixer Operator will assist in any inventory processes as needed by supervision

* Mixer Operator will maintain all required documentation and must be completed in a timely manner as required by guidelines of facility.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.

You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required. The ability to perform these requirements is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
