Job Description:



Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates engineering assignments associated with the design and development of driveline products used in medium and heavy duty Linehaul truck applications as well as driveline products for Specialty, Off-Highway and Defense businesses. Active contributor in driveline continuous improvements team, supporting improvements of Meritor driveline balance process and ensure stability of the process by monitoring process performance. Provides technical support and guidance to other engineers and designers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Active participant in development and implementation of driveline process improvements focused on continuously improving driveline balance.

• Assist with vehicle system engineering efforts and communicate conclusions and recommendations both internally and externally as appropriate.

• Assure all projects adhere to the GP3 and engineering procedures.

• Conceptualize, design, and develop new product or product revisions in response to customer requirements, warranty issues, and/or value analysis efforts.

• Perform engineering calculations necessary for the application of these components and systems. Such calculations may include vehicle performance, certification to regulations, component stress and fatigue life, geometrical fit, and static and dynamic load calculations, etc.

• Define test programs - determine what product evaluation is required to qualify components for customer use.

• Oversee engineering projects, provide and maintain project time tables, establish testing requirements, determine and monitor project budgets and provide overall project direction and coordination.

• Devise solutions to problems encountered and make changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary.

• Support Meritor manufacturing facilities by providing technical guidance and making disposition of manufacturing variations.

• Interface with other functional areas to coordinate the development and release of new product or product revisions to assure a smooth and timely introduction into production.

• Ensure requested product revisions will not affect performance of the product.

• Identify, verify and implement solutions to warranty or quality claims for product, process, or performance problems.

• Be alert to new technology and the opportunities to incorporate the technology into future products or manufacturing processes.

• Provide technical input and services to the Meritor Field Organization, Aftermarket Service Parts, Original Equipment Manufacturers, Purchasing, Product Management, Sales and Marketing, vendors and Meritor joint ventures.

• The Project Engineer has the responsibility and authority to:

1. Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process and quality system.

2. Identify and record any product, process and quality system problems.

3. Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

4. Verify the implementation of solutions.

5. Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected as defined by applicable procedures and/or by delegation of the Engineering Manager, Chief Engineering, or Director of Engineering.



• BS in Engineering (BSME) required

• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience required.

• MVH Experience required.

• Experience with commercial vehicle components and products required.

• Design experience with driveline systems preferred.

• Good communication skills of all types are a must.

• Candidate must be well versed with personal computer software and other computer systems.

• Project management skills are a benefit.

• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.

• Capability to apply technical skills across entire product base.
