Position Description:
Position Summary:

• Engage in the customer design process by developing solder preforms, microstampings, bonding wire and other value add solutions by translating their design proposals into material and alloy selection, part dimensions and tolerances that meet both customer requirements as well as our internal capabilities
• Develop a new product roadmap and maintain a new product pipeline to ensure sustainable, profitable growth of the business. Execute and promote new products, in close cooperation with Sales, directly towards customers as well as indirectly through digital marketing
• Work with the Engineering team, Quality, Operations and if applicable Sales in resolving technical issues internally, or with customers/ suppliers
• Provide lab services to both internal and external interested parties
• Work closely with Operations and provide overall technical support to develop internal processes and procedures: advise Operations personnel on performing general metal processing including melting, alloying, casting, rolling, and stamping of high purity metals
• Propose Capital Expenditures in order to add new capabilities or to enhance existing capabilities by creating a business case, including Return on Investment calculation to achieve business growth plans as well as operational excellence goals
• Manage and develop a small, dedicated team of Metallurgists / Engineers to ensure that people, financial and technical goals are met
• Provide technical input to Strategic Plan and Budget
• Up to 20% travel, both domestic and international

Relationships with Others:

• Reports directly to the Vice President & Business Unit Manager
• Manages a small, dedicated team of direct reports
• Close cooperation with other management team members in the US and Asia, including but not limited to Operations, Finance, Sales and Human Resources
• Communication and collaboration with customers, suppliers and others in the industry
• Multi-site support of the manufacturing facilities of the Business Unit in the US and Asia as well as the global sales offices

Position Requirements:
Requirements for Consideration
• MSc (or BSc) degree in Metallurgy / Chemistry, or Mechanical / Industrial Engineering (or closely related engineering field)
• Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in an Engineering Management role in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in metallurgy within the high-performance microelectronic component industry is preferred
• Must have thorough experience working with customers on product design and material selection.
• Must have a proven track record of translating customers feedback into new product roadmaps that lead to new business
• Must have tangible experience working with Operations to improve its manufacturing processes and capabilities
• Exposure to a fast pace, international business environment with global business partners
• Management expertise at both strategic and hands-on levels
