Edelman is seeking a Senior Account Executive to join the Corporate Affairs team in Washington, DC. While there's no "typical" day in this role, we are looking for a team member who can roll with the punches and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, this role requires someone who is invigorated by challenges, complex subject matter, and thinking creatively on behalf of brands and their executives.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled writer and have traditional executive positioning experience (speaking or media relations opportunities pursuit or support) and/or digital and content management experience. This individual must also be willing to grow into an account leader who can play an active role in strategically driving creative work and building client relationships. As a member of the broader Corporate & Advisory Services team, you will also serve as a mentor to junior staff and interns.

Responsibilities:


    • Write in multiple voices and produce clear, persuasive, original content for executives, including social media posts, internal communications and speeches

    • Help set the strategy for quarterly or annual communications plans, content strategies, etc.

    • Develop succinct, effective briefing documents for top-tier executives

    • Project manage submission process and draft award submissions for companies and their leaders

    • Research and evaluate conferences, building relationships with conference leaders and placing executives in speaking positions

    • Closely track communications marketing trends to bring fresh thinking and best practices to clients

    • Demonstrate tactical proficiency in media relations, driving both traditional and social media outreach plans

    • Support day-to-day account management and serve as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing issues thoughtfully and effectively

    • Coordinate with other discipline experts (e.g. earned media, paid media, design, crisis) as needed

    • Manage multiple projects from concept to completion by anticipating challenges, troubleshooting problems, proposing solutions, offering client counsel, overseeing quality, and ensuring deadline and budget adherence

    • Build relationships with third-party influencers and internal business partners to meet client needs

    • Delegate to junior staff and help motivate and coach team members; manage up to senior staff and consistently provide feedback that helps drive efficiency

    • Contribute to business growth by introducing clients to new capabilities, building network of industry contacts and participating in relevant professional organizations

    • Commit to continuous learning and improvement of leadership skills

Qualifications:

    • The Senior Account Executive must have at least three years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing. The senior account executive should have a bachelor's degree in a related field, a proven ability to manage large projects (including budgets) and small teams simultaneously, function as a daily client contact, as well as develop and execute plans to meet client goals. You should have a demonstrated ability to delegate and accurately judge and edit the work of others. You should have excellent written and verbal communications skills, including an understanding of traditional media and/or social media platforms and the digital ecosystem
